Little Black Box 4.0 Radiation Detector

This is a custom made, hand crafted Geiger Counter by Atomic.Dave. As I have said before, these are
mostly created for hobbyists who know about this type of tech but dont have the time or patience to build
it. The kit begins with the C8600 Ultimate Geiger Counter kit from Chaney Electronics. This is a definite
improvement from their last kit that was not as efficient in power use a. However after Chaney attempted
to improve, i had one of my friends at RH electronics have a look at the schematic and after a few days of
troubleshooting we came up with a much more stable device to run the insides of this new budget model
(the only model for this price with an alpha sensitive GM tube)

As I said this is basic so the instruction manual is basic too. Just a power switch, Geiger Bot output,
and LED/Piezo that go on when the SBT-9 (alpha-beta-gamma-xray) geiger muller tube picks up a radioactive particle.

This unit comes with a 9 volt battery and it will run for a minimum of 80 hours with the included procell alkaline battery while monitoring background radiation. A 5 volt power converter is also included to run
the meter without the use of batteries, using any 5 volt source such as a computer or wall charger.

These settings are general and most likely

will need some adjustment for best results.
Play around with the settings one at a time
by changing the values then going back to
original and compare. Refer back to these
settings if you get messed up and it doesnt
respond well.
Make sure the 3 band plug is firmly inserted into iPhone & the 2 band plug into the
GBot port.

Now this unit is compatible with Android devices and apps.

There are two different cables for iPhone and Android phones.
This diagram shows the difference. Although I can provide a link
and suggest the Android app to be used that is similar to iPhones
Geiger Bot, I do not support the software as I am not familiar with
it. I do know that the settings within the App called RadMeter
v1.0 does not need adjustments to the Audio Interface settings.
However fine tuning will be needed to get it to register the counts
correctly by adjusting the input signal range. There is a user guide
within the app for more information on this subject.

DATA LOGGING
If you desire to upload your data
to a server for a live feed of your
readings, go to xively.com, join up
and follow the instruction online
to get up and running. Once you
get the settings from xively, select
COSM/Pachube on the first page of
the Geiger Bot menu and type in the
corresponding information.

streaming data to the site. Unless of
course you turn it off on the iphone
