Based on the article given, the author deals with the issue of whether reducing the
populations and demand can minimize the usage of water. He contends that a better
water management should be implemented in order to diminish the water shortage.
The author uses words such as reckoning, overwhelming, poorly operated and
carelessly which reflect bias language that shown through his tone of disagree and
concern is conveyed as he attempt to persuade general public, farmers and those
involved in the inadequacy of water problem.
After reading this article, we found that the tone use by the author is anxious.
Throughout this whole article, it is clearly shown that the author is really scared
about what is going to happened next if we did not come out with a solution to
overcome the problem of water shortage. To overcome his anxiety, he did come out
with several solutions such as establish policies that creates incentives for farming
communities to invest in better water management and also we must invest in the
infrastructure and the knowledge system needed to manage complex water systems.
This is clearly stated in the line 76 until line 79.
From our point of view, the information in this article is based on the fact and
some of it from the authors opinion. Some of the information was well researched as
we can see that the author is quoting the researcher. For example when the author is
presenting the information about the new and affordable opportunities for low cost
water investment he did mention that the research was carried out by the
International Water Management Institute (IWMI). There are also assumptions made
by the author such as in paragraph II, Up to twice as much water will be required to
provide enough food to eliminate hunger and feed the additional 2.5 billion people
that will soon join our rank which is relevant but not comes with a certified
reference. In this claim the author does not inform where the information is obtained.
The author central arguments on how to overcome the problem of water shortage
is clearly stated. The author itself have presented about few solution carried out by
the researcher such as the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) that is
clearly stated in the paragraph VII while the author also presented his own solution
to overcome the problem that is clearly stated in the paragraph IX.

So in a

conclusion, the author is able to present his central arguments clearly to the readers.
The readers can find the evidence in the passage easily.

This article is organized logically and easy to follow. The way the author
presented his information is easy to understand. The language use is not too high and
not too low. The content was arranged accordingly and consecutively. On the other
hand, sometimes the authors language objective was influenced by his emotion and
it is clearly shown in his writing.
In a conclusion, we know that the author appear to care about the issue since he
instantly provides some better solutions. His last argument which says that action is
urgently required is acceptable. Although he managed to show some validity and
credibility in some of his claims, it was influenced by his emotion and does not have
a strong support.
