STUDENT RISK ASSESSMENT

Date
6/10/2014

Location: Media Studies

Refectory

HAZARDS
Hazard
Regardless of control measures
Slipping over items on the floor
such as bags or leftover food or
food packaging.

The kitchens are really close to

the area where food is sold and is
virtually next door to one of the
seating areas in the canteen so
there is a risk of a fire hazard at
all times when in the refectory
area.
Bumping into people may sound
like something that wouldnt be a
serious case but in actual fact it
can be a problem if you decide to
film during a break/lunch because
all at once there are people trying
to enter and leave the refectory.

Make sure that the various

professionals have been informed
and that they are aware of what you
will be carrying out. Also, If
possible make sure that the area
you will be filming in has been
closed off or taped off to alert the
other users of the area that there is
something important being carried
out.

CONTROL MEASURES
Existing control measures taken
against the risk
To avoid this you should check the
surrounding area and make sure
that any spillages are cleaned up by
the cleaners. Also, that no bag or
any other object is blocking the
path of where you are.

ACTION PLAN
What further control
measures are required when
and by whom
If any slips or trips occur then
it is important to inform a
member of staff so that if it
need to be reported it can be
reported and also get a cleaner
to clean up the spillage or
move the bag so that there isnt
a reoccurrence.
Make sure you are aware of the
located fire exits and that you
have a small drill for if there is
a fire.

If in any case there is a bump

or a collision with another
person then you should check
if the two individuals are ok
and that there is no serious
injury that may needed to be
reported.
