Target Audience

As this film is a part of a franchise, the target audience is most likely to be people who have seen the previous two films. Additionally, they
are most likely to aim the film at Marvel comic books fans and other superhero films. It is most likely to appeal to old original comic book
lovers and the younger generation being introduced to Marvel. It is traditionally aimed at males for example adult men and their younger
sons as it aims at mens survival instincts and their masculinity. It would also appeal to women as they would be able to idealise with the
feisty heroine who has power and more strength than the stereotypical woman in outdated films. Therefore, it is trying to appeal to both
genders to become as successful as possible and gain as most profit as possible.

known as an enigma code as the audience are unaware of their motives.
Background Image
The two male characters in the background image also
have an indirect mode of address; they are both looking
up towards the hero suggesting he has power and
authority. This secondary image consists of the men
having the same iconic Iron Man suits but is pristine
unlike the protagonists and they are both in a heroic
stance. There are also two other flying iron men and a
helicopter signifying a battle scene highlighting the
action genre. The iron men are in an angelic stance
connoting the deaths of warriors in battle going up to
heaven. In the right hand corner the man is the
stereotypical villain as he has an unkempt look, dark
clothing and blackened glasses to hide is identity. This
makes the character mysterious as he is disguised of his
true persona. Even though the audience are unable to
see his eyes, it is suggested that he has a direct mode of
address as his face is looking straight towards the
camera, making him seem intimidating. The patterned
fabric has an oriental motif.
Title Block
The title is in a bold font and is red to make
the poster extremely eye-catching. The
structure is solid and has a metallic look which
directly links with the material of the Iron Man
within the film. It has a strong construction
which is the basis of the film. The title is
placed underneath the primary image and is
central in the frame. The yellow glow at the
bottom suggests power and the heating up of
metal which could be connoting excitement
and explosions indicating the action genre of
the film. The yellow light could symbolise the
strength and power of the protagonist. The
blue light on the top of the title contrasts with
the yellow so could imply the film is a battle
between good and evil.
Billing Block
The billing block states the stars,
writers, directors and production
credits of the film. The first listed is
the Marvel Studios which is also
shown in the logo. People would be
attracted to see the film if they are a
fan of the other films or comic
books.

The female has a protective hand over the males chest suggesting that he
is vulnerable with subverts the stereotype of the masculine hero as she is
defending him. However, the heros arm is also holding her and drawing
her closer also in a protective manner suggesting they are equal. They are
both looking in opposing directions with a determined and steely face
suggesting they are working together as a team which juxtaposes the
stereotype of a heroine who is always in need to the heros guidance and
help.

Colours
The background is a firey
orange colour which could
indicate flames and hell
from the villainous
characters. The bright blue
light beaming from the
protagonists chest and hand
dramatically stands out
connoting the good trying to
defeat evil, like the colours
in the title block. The lower
horizontal third of the poster
is black with small specks of
red signifying darkness and
a threat. In the top right hand
corner, the colours consist of
dull greens and and grey
which contrasts against the
brighter colours connoting
the good and bad characters.

Release Date
The release date is written in
white capital letters and is next
to the tagline. This is at the
bottom of the poster to make it
stand out. The date is May 3rd
in America but was earlier in
the UK (18th April).
Tagline
The tagline is all written in capital letters and is white making it stand out on
the poster. The letters are bold and would attract the audiences eyes to this
point in the frame. The advertisement of the IMAX 3D could be a unique
selling point of the film as the audience may enjoy this experience even more.
