Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related area for Honours scholarships;
Honours degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related area for Masters scholarships;
Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related area for Doctoral scholarships;
Academic excellence at all preceding academic levels.
Awards:
Honours scholarships: R50 000 for one year;
Masters scholarships: R77 000 per year for two years;
Doctoral scholarships: R110 000 per year for three years.
These funding levels are subject to revision and student progress. Scholarships will be awarded taking into account the
collective demographic composition of recipients.
Important dates:
The deadline for submitting applications is 1 November 2015.
Successful applicants will be notified soon after 30 November 2015.
Application process:
Applications, consisting of a single file in PDF format, should be emailed to Marlene Jivan <mjivan@csir.co.za>. The
subject line of the email should read UCT-DST Scholarships in ICT. The application should include the following:
Full academic record, including all tertiary results;
Abbreviated curriculum vitae of at most one page, which should include the race group and gender of the applicant,
as well as whether the applicant has a disability, is a South African citizen (or permanent resident), a citizen of one
of the SADC countries, or a citizen of an African country;
For Masters and Doctoral applicants, a research topic and outline of at most one page, including name of
prospective (or current, if applicable) supervisor.
Prospective Masters and Doctoral applicants should complete their application in consultation with their prospective
supervisor.
