EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Sri Vivekananda Arts & Science College, Giddalur, Prakasam Dist.,
Andhra Pradesh, was established in 1973 as Govt. Aided College. The real
founder of this college was late SRI. PIDATHALA RANGA REDDY, formerly
finance minister, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. The area of Giddalur was interior,
mainly backward, Poverty-stricken downtrodden with low-living standard and
with meagre income. Late Sri P. Ranga Reddy aimed at to fulfill the minimum
needs of the inherently powerful rural youth who were deprived of higher studies.
The executive committee members are elected by the general body once in every
three years. At present there are 7 members in the exective committee.
The College named after Swami Vivekananda, the world renowned
spritual leader. Sri Vivenkananda Arts & Science College, Giddalur, Prakasam
Dist, Andhra Pradesh, affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, offers
four U.G. Courses in Arts, Commerce, Physical, Biological and Computer
science. It offers one P.G. course. It also offers U.G. Courses B.A., B.Sc., &
B.Com., through distance mode under Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University,
Hyderabad.
During the last 42 years of its existence, the college has served its best to
the students and offered opportunities to the meritorious youth to shine and
flourish. The college and its staff have mounted several academic landmarks in
terms of academic excellence and university results, which have been consistently
higher than the university averages for several courses. The institution was
recognized by U.G.C. in 1978.
VISION:

teaching learning methods to foster creative and critical thinking skills.
Imparting of life skills and job skills for employability and global
citizenship by creating necessary ambience, Transparent and honest governance,
team spirit and collective effort.
A birds eye view of the academic, co-curricular activities on criterion
wise will be worthwhile.

3. What are the goals and objectives of the college? How are they made
known to the various stakeholders?
As already mentioned our goals and objectives are reflected in our
vision and mission statement.
Our primary aim is to help the students of our rural background to
realize the on going changes in the advanced realms of education and to
instill confidence that is required to face the challenges ahead.
Identifying and enhancing the hidden talents of the students and
helping them come out of the traditional reserve attitude and face the world
of competition with self confidence is our aspiration.
We use different methods to let these aims and objectives be known to
the public especially to stake-holders.
A Hand Book is given to students in the beginning of the academic
year in which our aims and objectives are detailed. We frequently conduct
Parent Meetings and apprise them of the academic activities in the college
and seek their suggestions.
We hold orientation classes to students and impress upon them the
aims and objectives of the college. On occasions like the College
Anniversary Day the public are apprised of our efforts in providing real
education in the college.

education. The curriculum designed by the University inculcates the ideas of
the national development through subjects like Indian Heritage and Culture.

9. Are there departmental libraries for the use of faculty and students? If
yes, give details.
Yes. We have set up departmental libraries in all major faculties.
Besides these a reference section with many valuable books like
Encyclopedia is maintained.
Students have an access to the department libraries out side the
regular working hours. They can utilize the books and copy necessary
material with the permission of the lecturer in-charge of the library.
In the departmental library question papers of the previous
examinations are kept for the use of the students.
Journals relating to the subject are borrowed from the Central
Library and kept in the Departmental Libraries.

2. Is the operating budget of the institution adequate to cover the day-today expenses? If not, how is it managed?
The day- to day expenses are met from the budgetary provisions
given by the Government. However the amounts sanctioned under various
heads is meagre and not adequate. Hence the additional money required is
met from the General Fund of the Management (the differential amount of
tuition fee credited to the management).
3. Is the maintenance budget of the institution adequate with reference to
its infrastructure and learning resources?
