ArtCLima, art in climate change, Lima-Paris Route

As part of the activities and actions in the construction of a national climate


change agenda and on the Lima-Paris Road to the COP21, the Ministry of
Environment calls the ArtCLima art contest aimed at national artists interested in
change climate issues.
The aim of the competition is to present an artistic project at the COP21 in Paris to
generate a space for discussion, awareness, communication and exchange of
experiences from the field of art.
The winning artist will travel to the Paris competition and showcase his/her
proposal as part of the ARTCOP21 arts festival coordinated efforts. The artist will
get logistical support from the competition organizers. Also, the winner will have
the opportunity to participate in opportunities for exchanges with artists and
groups that will be present in different areas as part of ArtCOP21.

ArtCLima CONTEST
I. The ArtCLima competition is aimed at Peruvian artists who work in art projects on
an ongoing basis and who preferably show an interest in environmental and climate
change issues.
II. Participating artists may submit projects in any artistic discipline including:
painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, installation, performance, video art
and all its variants.
III. The proposal should generate reflection and raise awareness regarding the topic of
climate change and its impact in the context of COP21, using the communicative
power of art.

APPLICATION

IV. Each participant must send a pdf file -max 6 Mb-, which must contain the
following:
1. Application form with personal data and proposal of the project to be performed or
presented during COP21 including: Explanatory text of the project: concept,
description and title, size, materials, technique.
Relevance for COP21
Language, if it is a proposal including voice and / or audio.
Implementation Plan for the same materials, personnel and technical requirements.
You must also attach:
2. Project depiction: drawings, sketches, photographs.
3. Identification document copy.
4. Portfolio of previous artistic work: A minimum of 8 images and a maximum of 12
different works, with details of each work (title, technique, year, size or duration).
Regarding the video category, you must include links to videos posted on the web.
V. The completed applications must be sent to email: infoartclima@minam.gob.pe
with the subject: APPLICATION ArtCLima Contest.
The files must be sent no later than Friday, October 9, at 6 pm.
VI. Projects will be evaluated by a jury of specialists in visual arts and a representative
of the Ministry of Environment. The jury will meet in Lima and will announce the
winner artist on October 19 at the latest on the ministry's website:
http://www.cop20.pe/artclima.
The winning artist will be notified via email and phone call.
VII. The jury will select the winning project which meets the required conditions
according to artistic level, project feasibility, relevance of the proposal as a space for
reflection and raising awareness regarding the topic of climate change, and the
impact it may have in the context of the COP21.
AWARDS
VIII. The winning project will be presented within the activities organized by the
ArtCOP21 platform during the COP21 in Paris in December 2015.

The winning artist will receive a prize of US $ 8.500 to cover the following:
Lima - Paris - Lima ticket within the duration of the COP21 (November 30-December
11)
Stay and per diem for 10 days
Production and assembly costs of the work if this is on site, or transfer of work from
Lima to Paris1.
Support liaison officer in Paris during the days of production and / or assembly.
IX. The competition organizers will coordinate with the winning artist, any production
logistics or transfer of work to Paris, as well as details of the trip and stay.
X. Participation in this competition implies acceptance of these rules, not admitting
any claim or action regarding the jurys decision.
XI. The Ministry of Environment is not responsible for the content of the works sent to
the contest.
XII. The winner will participate in some areas of media coverage regarding the
proposal in coordination with the Ministry.

If the winning project was produced in Peru, the competition organizers will coordinate the transport
of the work. Being an international transport, there are restrictions on the weight and materials to be
transported. This should be discussed and coordinated with the competition organizers.
