Cheltenham Festivals is pleased to announce the launch of a project, sponsored b
y British Energy – part of EDF Energy, with science.TV to provide access to prog
ramme content from its renowned The Times Cheltenham Science Festival.
Cheltenham, UK, March 17, 2010 -- Cheltenham Festivals is pleased to announce th
e launch of a project, sponsored by British Energy – part of EDF Energy, with sc
ience.TV to provide access to programme content from its renowned The Times Chel
tenham Science Festival.
This programme allows science.TV to develop innovative multimedia educational sc
ience and engineering resources for schools utilising leading experts in their f
ield. These include Dr Alice Roberts, Professor Mark Lythgoe, Sir Jonathon Porri
tt and others from the 2009 Festival with many more planned to be produced at th
e 2010 Festival which will be held from 9-13 June.
Donna Renney, CEO of Cheltenham Festivals commented: “We are pleased to be assoc
iated with the creation of this new resource which will further our educational
outreach activities to engage children with the importance of science and its im
pact on society”

The Times Cheltenham Science Festival is a five-day celebration of science, engi
neering and the arts and is produced by Cheltenham Festivals. A rare opportunity
for the public to come face-to-face with around 300 of the world’s leading scie
ntists and thinkers, the festival annually sells in excess of 23,000 tickets whi
lst the free interactive Discover Zone attracts over 10,000 visitors. The five d
ay festival promises a mix of serious debate, live experiments and surprising di
scoveries all based at Cheltenham Town Hall.
