We would like to send a special thanks to our, lecturer of ELP subject as

she has help us a lot in completing this assignment. When facing with problems, she
guide me through it. she teach me a lot about this assignement during class and
asked question about how to choose a nouns, determiner, pronoun, adjective, and
adverb. she also teach me how to find the brainstorms in an essay.
This coursework help me to understand more and know how to find the a
nouns, determiner, pronoun, adjective, and adverb in an article. Some mistake that
me had make, she will correct me and teach me the right way to do it.
Next, a special thanks to my classmates who have helped me to made this
assignment better than it otherwise could be. They give us some information that we
left out about word classes from website and some books too. We also share
information that we got from either books or website. Some question that we do not
understand, we will discuss with each other.
Last but not least, a special gratitude towards the best parents in the world, who
continue to encourage and support us in every way. We are who we are because of
both of them. They also gave me some idea on how to start this assignment.

A word classes is kown as a part of speech. Its help to discuss accurately and
style at the sentences level. In grammar, a part of speech also a word class,
a lexical class, or a lexical category is a linguistic category of words or more
precisely lexical

items,

which

is

generally

defined

by

the syntacticor morphological behaviour of the lexical item in question. Common

linguistic categories include noun and verb, among others. There are open word
classes, which constantly acquire new members, and closed word classes, which
acquire new members infrequently if at all.

Almost all languages have the lexical categories Noun and Verb, but beyond
these

there

are

significant

variations

in

different

languages. For

example, Japanese has as many as three classes ofadjectives where English has
one; Chinese, Korean and Japanese have classifiers while European languages do
not grammaticalize these units of measurement a pair of shoes, a grain of rice; many
languages don't have a distinction between adjectives and adverbs, adjectives and
verbs see stative verbs or adjectives and nouns etc. This variation in the number of
categories and their identifying properties entails that analysis be done for each
individual language. Nevertheless the labels for each category are assigned on the
basis of universal criteria.

English words have been traditionally classified into eight lexical categories, or
parts of speech and are still done so in most dictionaries. They are Noun, Pronoun,
Adjective, Verb, Adverb, Preposition, Conjunction and Interjection. Although these
are the traditional eight English parts of speech, modern linguists have been able to
classify English words into even more specific categories and sub-categories based
on function. The four main parts of speech in English, namely nouns, verbs,
adjectives and adverbs, are labelled form classes as well. This is because
prototypical members of each class share the ability to change their form by
accepting derivational or inflectional morphemes. The term form is used as it refers
literally to the similarities in shape of the word in its pronunciation and spelling for
each part of speech.

First of ol let we see the first part of speech. The verb is a group of words cannot be
described as a sentence or a clause unless at least one of the words is a verb. In
some ways, we can describe it as the most important part of speech because it is the
'action' word that tells the listener or reader what is happening in the sentence. Verbs
can be action words like run, initiate, judge, throw, but they can also denote less
active notions and have more to do with mental processes and perceptions,
like see, know, think and so on.

Secoundly, The noun. A noun is a word which is used to denote a person (traffic
warden, woman, Prime Minister, pianist etc.), a concrete or abstract entity
(binoculars, fork, field, truth, incoherence etc.) or a place (office, garden, railway
station). These are allcommon nouns; there are also proper nouns which are the
names of a specific person, place, event etc., usually starting with a capital letter, for
example, York, John, Christmas, Saturday. A noun can be extended to a noun
phrase. In the example phrases given below, the noun (in the first example) and the
noun phrase (in the remaining examples) is in bold. Note how much the noun phrase
can be extended by adding extra information each time.

Third is the adjective. An adjective gives the reader or speaker extra information
about a noun or delimits it in some way. It can occur in two positions in a phrase:
before the noun as in clear water, beautiful beaches, a terrible decision. The
adjectives in these examples are said to be attributive, following any form of the
verb be (e.g. am, is, was, been) and similar verbs (seem, appear, become) as in the
water

became

clear, the

in predicative position.

beaches

are

beautiful.

These

adjectives

are

Next is pronoun. Pronouns are usually treated as a special sub-class of nouns.

This is because they stand in for a noun or group of nouns. They are limited
in number and belong to what is called a closed set, that is, a group of
words to which new members are, for practical purposes, not allowed. Some
examples of pronouns are: I, you, he,she, our, its, something, anyone and
so on. Thus, instead of saying, Bills arrived. Bills in the lounge, we
prefer Bills arrived. Hes in the lounge. Or a person called for you;
better would be someone called for you. There are several other words
which fall into this class; for example (the) one(s), when used to
replace dishes in the example: pass me the dishes - the ones on the top
shelf.

After that let we see the adverbs. The traditional approach to adverbs has
been to assign mainly those words which are made from adjectives by the
addition of the ending ly (quickly, hopelessly), plus certain other words
which are difficult to classify, like not, just and soon. Their main function is
to qualify the action of the verb in the clause in some way, but they can also
be used to add more information to an adjective or other adverb
e.g. awfully good, incredibly slowly. The class of adverbs is very wideranging in form and is used to add comments to many of the other word
classes.

the digitization of information, combined with the increasing capacity of digital

information storage, is causing the traditional model of museums to expand to
include virtual exhibits and high-resolution images of their collections for perusal,
study, and exploration from any place with Internet connectivity.
During the long holidays last year, the English Language Society organized a
trip to Kuala Lumpur. One of the places that we visited was the National Museum.
Thirthy-nine members of the society went there and three teachers accompanied us.
We boarded the bus at nine-thirty that night and reached Kuala Lumpur at seventhirty the following morning. After having our breakfast and washing up, we headed
for the National Meseum.
The great size of meseum surprise me because its look so big and old
National Museum, it had to be the biggest in the country. Appropriately, it was built
according to tradisional Malay architecture and was flanked by two gigant colouredglass murals which depicted historic events and cultural activities in Malaysia.
We entered the building to look at the exhibits. We saw displays of photographs
of important events in Malaysia history such as the signing of treaties, the British
colonization of Malaya and her occupation by the Japanese. Photo graphs of people
who had influenced the course of the countrys history could also be seen. There
was also a room where we saw the various type of arts and crafts carried on by
Malaysians, especially the indigenous people. The materials used in these art and
crafts were mostly derived from nature such as dyes and colours obtained from
flowers and crushted rocks, bark, leaves and animal skins. We also saw money an
some ancient weaponds used by Malaysians long ago. There was also a room
where many animals and birds found in Malaysia were exhibited in stuffed from and
where many insects found in the country were displayed and preserved form.

I was very surprised and amused to learn that they were our country build this
kind of museum and its also helps our next generation to know well about our
country. I was amused because i could not imagine that how historical is this
National museum of Malaysia. I was proud of my self to visit this plays and i also
proud to know the historical things my country have. My visit to the National Museum
was highly educational one. If the opportunity aries again, i shall pey anoter visit to
this historical place.

Im Tinesh A/L Meroiviran. Im from PISMP SEM 1 unit PT/PJ/MT. This course
work is give to me by my ELP lecturer PN.Raja Norita on 23 March and we should
submit on 06 April. I have learne a lot things by doing this assingnement. This
coursework was given as individually. The main tittle of the coursework is part of
speech and word classes.
First, i have learned about a word classes. A word classes is kown as a part of
speech. Its help to discuss accurately and style at the sentences level. In grammar,
a part of speech also a word class, a lexical class, or a lexical category is a linguistic
category of words or more precisely lexical items, which is generally defined by
the syntacticor morphological behaviour of the lexical item in question. I also know
that Common linguistic categories include noun and verb, among others. There
are open word classes, which constantly acquire new members, and closed word
classes, which acquire new members infrequently if at all.
Furthermore, me also learned classification of english words. English word
have been traditionally classified into eight lexical categories, or parts of speech and
are still done so in most dictionaries. They are Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Verb,

Not only that, me also learne how to make my own sentences using the word
classess. After that, me have done a descriptive essay by using my own brainstorm.

classified into eight lexical categories, or parts of speech and are still done so in most
dictionaries. They are Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Verb, Adverb, Preposition, Conjunction and
Interjection.

2012 intake had been assigned to do an individual assignment for the subject

English Language Proficiency. This task was assigned to me on 23 Mac 2012. With
gods grace, I was able to complete this assignment on time and completely.
Firstly, my lecturer Pn. Raja Norita had explain about this assignment to us
before we start to do this assignment. I would like to thank her for the brief
explanation. With that I planned to start on my work. I began my work by finding
important notes which related to my part. This is because, we done the assignment
by dividing into parts. So that, the assignment wont be burden to us. Morever it is
one of the way to save the time consuming.
Beside to this, actually I have learnt a lot of things via this assignment. For
instance, The four main parts of speech in English, namely nouns, verbs, adjectives
and adverbs, are labelled form classes as well. This is because prototypical
members of each class share the ability to change their form by accepting
derivational or inflectional morphemes. The term form is used as it refers literally to
the similarities in shape of the word in its pronunciation and spelling for each part of
speech. These couse me to read more about English grammer.
Finnaly, I felt satisfy after we done the assignment. This assingnment is realy
good because it is not only an educational thing but also let me know about team
work. I hope our lecturer will give more group works in future because I belived that
it will tuned us be good in English.
