Normas para la preseNtaciN de origiNales

Latinoamrica. Revista de Estudios Latinoamericanos es una publicacin semestral editada por
el Centro de Investigaciones sobre Amrica Latina y el Caribe de la Universidad Nacional Autnoma de Mxico.
OBJETIVO
Difundir trabajos de investigacin original sobre Amrica Latina y el Caribe; estudios comparativos entre dos o ms casos o bien el anlisis de una situacin o fenmeno especfico.
TEMTICA
Filosofa e historia de las ideas; Historia; Literatura y ensayo; Poltica, economa y sociedad en Amrica Latina y el Caribe.
Los artculos debern cumplir con los siguientes criterios
1. Ser inditos.
2. Escritos en espaol, portugus, ingls o francs.
3. Extensin entre 20-30 cuartillas (1 625 caracteres por pgina, 25 renglones, 65 golpes por
lnea).
4. Ttulo del artculo en espaol e ingls, con no ms de siete palabras, as como el resumen
del artculo en espaol e ingls, no mayor de 100 palabras (10 renglones) y una breve lista
de palabras clave, con un mximo de seis.
5. Datos personales del autor (institucin, direccin, telfono, correo electrnico) para establecer
comunicacin.
6. Las referencias bibliogrficas de monografas o libros debern incluir los siguientes elementos en este orden: autor, ttulo y subttulo (en cursivas), traductor, anotador, prologuista, etc., nmero de volmenes, edicin (no siendo la primera), ciudad, editorial, ao de edicin, nmero de
pginas, ilustraciones, mapas, grficas, etc., coleccin. Todos estos elementos debern ir separados por comas.
7. Los artculos de revistas especializadas sern registrados de la siguiente manera:
autor, ttulo del artculo (entre comillas) seguido de la preposicin en, ttulo de la publicacin
(en cursivas), poca, tomo (t.), volumen (vol.) o ao, nmero (nm.), lugar de edicin, fecha
de publicacin, pginas en que se encuentra el artculo.
Todos estos elementos debern ir separados por comas.
8. Los documentos de archivo sern consignados de esta forma: carcter o denominacin del
documento, autor y destinatario, procedencia y destino, fecha, archivo, ramo, legajo, volumen
o caja. Todos estos elementos debern ir separados por comas.
9. El registro de tesis se realizar del siguiente modo: autor, ttulo y subttulo (en cursivas), lugar,
ao, nmero de pginas, entre parntesis indicacin del grado por el que se opta, la facultad
y la universidad donde se presenta. Todos estos elementos debern ir separados por comas.
10. Las fichas bibliogrficas y hemerogrficas en notas a pie de pgina debern ir completas en

la primera cita, y a partir de la segunda indicar de manera abreviada autor, ttulo y pginas o
en su caso:
-op. cit. despus del apellido del autor cuando el libro ya haya sido citado.
-ibid. para indicar que el libro ha sido citado en la nota precedente.
11. No se considerarn como recibidos los artculos que no cumplan con los anteriores criterios, por lo que sern devueltos.
Los originales debern enviarse en archivo de Microsoft Word (extensin .doc o .docx) a doble espacio en letra Arial de 12 puntos a la direccin electrnica: rlatino@unam.mx.
RESEAS
Las reseas debern tener una extensin mnima de cuatro cuartillas y mxima de 8 (1 624 caracteres, 25 renglones y 65 golpes por lnea).
Se recomienda que el contenido de los libros reseados verse sobre la realidad latinoamericana
desde la filosofa, la historia, la literatura hasta las ciencias sociales. Las obras debern ser recientes (con no ms de dos aos de aparicin).
SNTESIS CURRICULAR DEL AUTOR
Con el propsito de incluir algunos datos de los colaboradores en la revista, se recomienda que incluyan la siguiente informacin: grado acadmico, procedencia institucional, premios y distinciones,
publicaciones recientes, lneas de investigacin, con una extensin entre 6 y 8 renglones, 65 golpes
por lnea.
Todos los artculos sern sometidos a dictamen acadmico por especialistas del tema, con sistema de evaluacin doble ciego. Durante el proceso editorial se aplicarn las normas y criterios
editoriales de nuestra revista.
DERECHOS DE AUTOR
Los autores conservarn sus derechos de autor, en ese sentido sus artculos podrn ser publicados sin restriccin, en cualquier medio, siempre y cuando se mencione que el artculo fue

Latin America. Journal of Latin American Studies is a biannual publication published by the Center for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean of the National Autonomous University of
Mexico.
GOAL
To disseminate original research on Latin America and the Caribbean; also comparative studies
between two or more cases or the analysis of a situation or a specific phenomena.
THEMES
Philosophy and history of ideas; History; Literature and essay; Politics, Economics and society in
Latin America and the Caribbean.
The articles must meet the following criteria
1. Unpublished.
2. Written in Spanish, Portuguese, English or French.
3. Extension between 20 and 30 sheets (1625 characters per page, 25 lines, 65 characters per line
including spaces).
4. The title should be in Spanish and English and preferably not exceeding 7 words. The abstract
must be submitted also in Spanish and English with an extension no longer than 100 words for
each (10 lines), and a list of maximun 6 key words also in Spanish and English.
5. The authors institution, address, telephone and electronic mail.
6. The bibliographical references of monographs or books will include this elements in the following
order: author, title and subtitle (in cursive), translator, annotator, prologue author, etc., number
of volumes, edition (if not the first), city, publisher, year of edition, number of pages, illustrations,
maps, diagrams, etc., collection. All these elements will go separated by comma.
7. The articles of specialized magazines will be registered in the following way: author, title of the
article (among quotation marks) followed by the preposition in, title of the publication (in cursive), volume (vol.) or year, number (nm.), edition place, publication date, pages (first-last). All
these elements will go separated by comma.
8. The file documents will be identified this way: character or denomination of the document, author and addressee, origin and destination, dates, file, field, cluster, volume or box. All these elements will go separated by comma.
9. The thesis registration will be carried out in the following way: author, title and subtitle (in cursive),
place, year, number of pages, between parenthesis indication of the degree sought, the Faculty
and the University where is presented. All these elements will go separated by comma.
10. The bibliographical records in the footnotes will go complete in the first quotation, and from second on, indicating in abbreviated way author, title and pages or in their case:
- op. cit. after the authors last name when the book has already been mentioned.
- ibid. to indicate that the book has been mentioned in the previous note.

REVIEWS
The reviews will have a minimum extension of four sheets and maximum of eight (1 624 characters, 25 lines and 65 characters per line including spaces).
It is recommended that the content of the reviewed books deals about the Latin American reality
from the philosophy, the history, the literature and the social sciences. Besides that, it is recommended that these be recent works (of no more than two years of publication).
AUTHOR DATA
With the purpose of including some data of the collaborators in the magazine, it is recommended
that they include the following information: current academic situation, prizes and distinctions, publications, investigation lines; maximum extension between 6 to 8 rows, 65 characters per line.
All the articles will be subject to academic arbitration by specialists in the field, with double-blind
evaluation system. During the editorial process all editorial standards of our journal will apply.
COPYRIGHT
The authors retain their copyright, in that sense the articles may be published without restriction
in print or digital format in other publications, as long as they mention that the article was originally
published in Latin America. Journal of Latin American Studies, Mexico, UNAM-CIALC (year and
