AMPALAYA: The Musical

Ampalaya the Musical was indeed a great event. I love this story were there was
once a vegetable, which is Ampalaya, who didnt like her appearance and taste. The
portrayal of the story especially the characters were very awesome. They really put or
show integration/ communication to the audience through expression like their
emotions. I love the set of this story especially that this month, July, is a Nutrition Month
and it really encourages or the event gave values towards to the audience what are the
different vegetables and their importance. The character, Ampalaya, is a good example
that portrays ones individual because we know some people dont know why they have
this certain thing, they only focus in their negative sides/things and they forgot the
positive ones like Ampalaya, She hated herself because of her appearance but she
didnt know how useful she is like Ampalaya can lower down blood sugar level,
antioxidant, good for the heart, skin improvement and more.
The show would be incomplete without the background sounds or the orchestra. I
also love the accompaniment of the sound. I love the timing of music towards the
certain situation of the performers. One function of the sound in here is to determine the
mood of the performer as well as the image of a certain situation. The sound is really
important because without this some audience might have difficulty in imagining the
situation and their mood. I also found out that most of the instruments being played
were strings like the banduria, guitars, double bass, two woodwind instruments which
are the flute and clarinet and there were also snare drum and piano. I love some of the
dance part because it gave joyful to the audience as well as the whole event. Even
though the steps were just simple but still it was awesome.
The things that I dont like in the event are the background and the childish act.
Yes the background in the event gave meaning to the show but I think its a little bit dry
with just a single, giant leaf on the center of the stage. I also dont like the childish
act/thing during the event. They should have minimized childish thing because we know
that some people dont like childish act because for them it is already O.A. so it would
be better if they balance the childish and the normal thing. It would also be better if the
members of the orchestra are fully covered at the back stage so that during the event,
the performers will be the only one that can be seen to the audience.
