Easter is just around the corner and my prayer is we
will all invite someone to worship for Resurrection
Sunday. I can’t think of a better time to bring someone
to church so they can hear about Jesus’ victory over
death and how we can share in the resurrection. John
Stott wrote, “Perhaps the transformation of the
disciples of Jesus is the greatest evidence of all for the
resurrection. It was the resurrection which transformed
Peter’s fear into courage and James’ doubt into faith. It
was the resurrection which changed the Sabbath into
Sunday and the Jewish remnant into the Christian
Church. It was the resurrection which changed Saul the
Pharisee into Paul the Apostle and turned his
persecuting into preaching.” Maybe the one you bring
to church on Easter will have the resurrection change
his or her life eternally, just like it did for the disciples!
We have so many amazing servants in our church – It
would take a ton of newsletter articles to thank you all.
I was thinking this morning about the leadership of our
Youth Ministry Committee during the time of Eric’s
resignation to Sharon’s call to fulfill the position and it
made me grateful for those who stepped up in a time of
need for such a critical area of ministry in our church. I
was thinking of those faithful folks who go with me
two Wednesdays a month to the nursing homes and it
made me smile to know of their care for those in need.
I was thinking about all those who have been a part of
the Fellowship Meal teams for Wednesdays and I’m
thankful for their devotion to our mid-week activities.
I was thinking about the sign-up sheets for our
Volunteer Lawn Care Teams and how thankful I was
when Jerry Munson told me yesterday that we have
nineteen on board to be a part of this service for our
church. I was thinking about Donnie Townsend, our
Custodian, and how great a hire the Personnel
Committee made in bringing him to take care of our
church facilities. I was thinking about Clydell
Massingill and all the other nursery volunteers that
have made my daughter’s transition to Hamilton so
good. I’m thankful for all of you and I’m very honored
to be your Pastor.
