BASIC RIDER COURSE - CONFIRMATION LETTER

Uniform of the day is civilian attire with protective riding gear as listed below.
This course is intended to teach you the basic skills needed for the safe & prudent operation of your vehicle.
To meet legal and safety requirements, you must have all of the items listed below in order to participate.
 You MUST provide your own gear - please check each box to make sure that you have everything!
 Your motorcycle MUST have current registration and insurance.
Legal Motorcycle  Your motorcycle MUST be in good running condition, including tires.
 Your motorcycle MUST meet all State and base vehicle code requirements.
 You MUST have a valid driver’s license.

 You MUST have either a valid motorcycle endorsement on your driver’s license or
a valid motorcycle permit; If you do not have at least a valid motorcycle permit,
your motorcycle MUST be delivered to the training site.
 You MUST wear an approved brightly colored safety vest. "Brightly Colored" is
Safety Vest
defined as: OSHA Yellow or International Orange.

 Your helmet MUST be DOT approved, illegal helmets will not be allowed.

Eye Protection  If your helmet does not have a visor, you MUST bring appropriate eye protection,
such as: goggles or shatter-resistant glasses.
Full-Fingered  Your gloves MUST be full-fingered and made of leather, or equivalent material.

Sturdy  Your boots MUST be over-the-ankle.

 Your boots MUST be made of leather or equivalent material with a hard rubber
sole.
Jacket  You MUST wear either a long sleeve shirt or jacket (a long sleeve white shirt is
Long Sleeve Shirt recommended for hot days).
Long Pants
 You MUST wear long pants.
 Please bring snacks, water, sun block and any necessary medications.

 Take I-5 South, exit at Palm Ave, turn right (West); turn left at 13th St (South) all
the way to the NOLFIB gate; after entering the base, turn left (South) in front of the
Commissary; at the stop sign, turn right (West) and proceed approx. 100 feet; the
Directions classroom is located directly across from the Control Tower; the entrance is on the
right hand side of the building.
 If you have a motorcycle permit, you cannot ride on the freeway; you MUST find
an alternate route to the course using surface streets only.
 FAILURE TO CANCEL 72 HOURS (3 WORK DAYS) PRIOR TO YOUR
