THE IMPORTANCE OF LEARNING ENGLISH IDIOMS

Surely the importance of the idioms -expressions fixed or phrases of a language - lies
in the fact that they are a living part and only one of each language to reflect the way
we see the world that have their speakers.
Idioms may be defined as combinations of words that have a different meaning to the
individual meaning of the words of the phrase. Sometimes they may have a literal
meaning in a situation and another language in another.
For example "As easy as pie": this expression appeared in the United States in the
mid-19th century. Although it is not easy to make a cake, is generally known to be
easy to eat. Currently used with the sense of 'easy', in Spanish would be piece of
cake.
The teaching of idioms is one of the best ways to help the students to express
themselves in an informal context. The daily natives make use of idioms has created
the need of using them both inside and outside of the class to create competitive
inhabitant, with a greater vocabulary and a mastery of the everyday use of language.
In English, in specifically, idioms are abundant, and without them the language would
lose much of its richness and characteristic humor. However, we have a number of
difficulties when we intend to study them.
Although we know the words that form the phrase is not to have a literal meaning,
and it is difficult to give a translation that sounds natural in another language; In
addition, almost never we got to know the origin of the expression, which will surely
help us to retain it in our memory.
We know that using idioms is one of the best ways to speak like someone speaking
English would. Once we take back a few, find situations in which to use them can be
like a game.

Then we will see some idioms, its meaning and an example of each of these
expressions:
