Dear Cluster 4,

This memo accompanies your Mid-term evaluation sheet. If you have an Academic or
Attendance Warning, you will be referred to your advisor. Otherwise, please refer to the
checklist on the form for feedback on your progress so far. Use the checklist from the
syllabus (see below) to self assess your progress, and ways that you may improve.

IMPORTANT:
As discussed in class, and referred to in last week’s assignment page, your personal blog
is not only for archiving, but also a crucial element in distinguishing yourself in this class,
and reading into your research. If you are not participating actively in class it can
dramatically improve your personal profile.

Many have opened their sites, but few have posted at all. This is a class requirement, and
students should be posting at least once a week for an iteration of the latest assignment,
as well as recording your research.

We are at your disposal for any questions regarding your standing. Have a great Spring
break!

Evaluation and Grading

Course Expectations
In order to receive a grade for this course, students must actively participate in classroom discussions
and critiques, and complete all the assigned projects, including mid-term & final projects.
Expectations for each assignment will be clearly defined; they will be printed in handouts and
discussed in each class.
Individual assignments will be evaluated on the following basis:
-if the project fulfills the requirements and objectives of the assignment
-if the student demonstrates initiative and inventiveness in the exploration
-if the student has improved from previous work
-if the project is carefully considered and consistently developed
Assignments must be completed on time and included in class discussion & critique. Late assignments will be
penalized. Consideration will be given to how much a student's work has developed and how well that
development demonstrates an understanding of the concepts of the course.

Mid-semester Evaluations
Mid-semester evaluations are issued to help students improve performance and make progress. Although a
grade may not be given, the comments will indicate your standing on an average - below or above scale.

Grading
Your grade is determined by your performance in following :
Participation (includes critique, reading & discussion): 10%
Collaboration and team work: 30%
Evidence of research and process: 30%
Quality of Production: 30%
