ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF LANEY COLLEGE

2010 Student Scholarship Awards

The Associated Student of Laney College Scholarship Program endows scholarships to

outstanding students who demonstrate the potential for superior academic performance,
financial need, single parents, and students specializing in vocational studies. The Associated
Students of Laney College Scholarship grants awards without regard to race,
creed, religious preferences.

Applicants are limited to winning one ASLC scholarship per year. Laney students
currently enrolled in at least six units may apply for the scholarships. Eligible applicants
must have completed a minimum of twelve semester units; eligible applicants will have a
cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or greater; 3.5 or greater if applying for the
academic scholarship. Factors used to evaluate scholarship applications are as follows: 500 word
essay, leadership experience, grades, extracurricular activities, work experience, and
community service.

Unfortunately, the Associated Students of Laney College cannot award scholarship to all
of the excellent students who apply. However, we can assure each applicant that he or
she will receive consideration and fair treatment in a very competitive situation. Because
students evaluate these applications, any application that bears an applicant name or
reveals the identity of the applicant will automatically disqualify the applicant for a
scholarship. ASLC MEMBERS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE.
