Objective: the students should be able to identify active voice from passive voice in

the present and past in different context.


Context: Facebook

Lesson 1(80 minutes)


Warming up: the teacher will use a big jigsaw consisting of different kind of images
related to social networks such as: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Whatsapp.
Presentation:
The teacher will show the students pictures or a power point presentation which will
show how to upload photos using Facebook; in this case, he will describe how to do
that using passive voice in his description. This one will consist of steps or
instructions.
Title:

Step 1: first, your email and password are used to log into Facebook.

Step 2: Click on your name in the top right corner of your screen; your personal
profile page is shown.

Step 3: Once you are at your profile, click on the "Add Photos" button in the top left
corner.

Step 4: The file navigation prompt is opened. You can select one or more photos to
upload. After, the photos are selected, press Open.

Step 5: once the photo is selected, you can add some commentaries about it.

Step 6: When this is finished, select Post. The photo appears on your profile.

After the teacher has tell them orally the previous description, he will repeat again
each step orally and students have to repeat after him, first chorally, then by groups
and finally individually. The aim is that his students will understand past passive.
ACTIVITY 1:
The teacher is going to deliver them a copy with the images previously shown. All of
them will be disorganized; the students will have to arrange them in the correct order
while listening to the teacher. The students will have to order the pictures using
numbers.

ACTIVITY 2:
The teacher will use jokes and pictures related to Facebook explaining that they will
have to work in pairs, so student A will receive an image and student B the written
text. The teacher will explain that student A will have to find his/her partner, the only
way to do that is that the images match with the text. As a result, they will have to
move in the room to find the matching text /picture. The pair who finishes first will
have to share the joke/text in a loud voice in front of the class.
Rubric: Find the picture which matches the text.

Activity 3:
The teacher will deliver the students a copy where they will have to decide which
sentence is true or false. They will have to read these sentences in a loud voice first
chorally then in small groups.

Comprehensive Grammar Activity
The teacher will deliver the students a copy where some sentences in active voice
which will appear on the left of a chart. Then, the same sentences will appear but in
passive voice on the right side. The teacher will emphasize the verb, the subject, and
the object of each sentence in different colours. The intention is to read each of them
with students, so in that way the passive voice can be understandable to his students.

Activity 4:
The teacher will deliver the students a copy with some exercises related with the
previous point. The students will have to rewrite the sentences from active voice to
passive ones.

Lesson 2 (40 minutes)
Warming up:
Game activity:
The teacher will divide the class into 5 groups of 6 students. The teacher will ask them
to form a queue watching towards the board. Then, the teacher will deliver a sentence
to the first student of each group. The leader of each group will start the game. This
sentence will be illegible, the intention is that each student can write the correct
sentence and read it in a loud voice. Besides, as these sentences are written from
back to the front, the teacher will allow his students to use a mirror. Once this student
has finished of doing this, then it will be the turn of the following student, and so on.
The board will be divided into 5 sections.
Time: 2 minutes for each student.
Variations: this game can be used individually. The teacher will choose 2 or 3 students
to come to the front and rewrite the illegible sentence on board using the mirror.

Presentation:
The teacher will explain his students that he has decided to share a photo on his
profile. Then, the teacher will ask them if they know how to do that. Afterwards, the
teacher will explain them that he shared the photo, but he needs to know if the steps

are correct or not; as a result, he will describe the procedures asking them if they are
right.

Practice:
Activity 1:
Bingo Game: the teacher will deliver two bingo cards for each student. The teacher
will explain the students that he is going to read a complete sentence and they will
have to find it in the bingo cards. The student who finds this sentence faster than the
rest, he/she will win a point. As a result, this student will say in a loud voice BINGO!,
then he/she will have to read the complete sentence in a loud voice. (The intention is
to deliver many different bingo cards and not only these ones.)

Activity 2:

The teacher will deliver to each student a piece of paper with the picture of a chat on
it. The teacher will explain that they will have to write their name on it and imagine
that he/she is chatting with his/her partner via Facebook. The aim will be that they will
have to complete the dialogue in passive voice and past; besides, the teacher will
help them giving them an extra small piece of paper containing some words. At the
end, they will have to read in a loud voice the dialogue pretending that they are
chatting.
