This paper aims to show the decoupling of a pair of oscillators of uniform frequency, which are coupled
through an arbitrary strength parameter, as well as its parametrization in the language of Gaussian white noise
analysis.

The evaluation of the Feynman path integral in the

language of white noise analysis was introduced by T.
Hida and L. Streit [1]. This functional approach
translates the infinite-dimensional flat measure in the
Feynman path integral into a well-defined Gaussian
white noise measure and instead of using the timeslicing method in explicitly evaluating the Feynman
path integral, the T-transform in white noise analysis
is being used in the evaluation.
This method has been employed successfully in
many nonrelativistic quantum problems [5,6]. In this
study, we apply white noise analysis in evaluating the
path integral of two coupled harmonic oscillators.

In quantum mechanics, the wavefunction and

energy spectrum give a complete description of a
mechanical system. To solve for these important
abstract entities, several procedures have been
formulated.
Among
the
formulations
are
Schrdingers differential equation, Heisenbergs
matrix formulation and the path integral approach
which was introduced by Richard Feynman in 1948
[4].
2.1. Feynman Path Integral
In the Feynman approach, the propagator is
calculated from a path integral of the form
2.2. White Noise Path Integral
In the discussion of white noise, the involved
functionals are defined in the measure space of white
noise, where

4.1. Decoupling the Oscillators
In order to quantize the potential and map it into
that of a pair of independent oscillators, we will
introduce a decoupling transformation [3],

One of the major parts of the evaluation of the

propagator of coupled harmonic oscillator, which is
the decoupling of the oscillators, has been done
already, as well as the translation of their propagators
in the language of white noise. These prepares the
way for the author to evaluate the propagator of the
individual oscillators and compare it with the results
in [1]. After which, the evaluation of the propagator
for the coupled oscillators will follow and compare it
with the particular case dealt in [3]. The author is also
considering the evaluation of the propagator of
coupled
harmonic
oscillators with
different
frequencies.
