Assignment 01 Personal Leadership Analysis and Plan
The purposes of this assignment are: 1. Reflection on what leadership means to you personally. 2. Identification of where your passion lies. 3. The legacy you would like to leave behind from your 4 years in university. 4. Begin to formulate a project that will help you achieve your goals and objectives. 5. Give meaning to your life a. You need to write a 2-page document, which describe your personal views on what leadership means to YOU, and how it is relevant or irrelevant to your life. Does it matter if you are a leader or just a follower? Critically assess yourself as a leader and describe how do you see yourself as a leader. What specific leadership competencies you want to personally develop, over your time in university? b. Your plan to develop these competencies should include working on a project that you feel passionate about and will leave your personal legacy at university. Think well and discover where your passion lies. The project can involve the university, the society, or the community at large, in order to achieve your goals. Keep in mind that The future is not shaped by people who don't really believe in the future. So go ahead, and shape YOUR own future. c. You are also required to give meaning to your own life. What your life means, and where you are going? When you define and explain your life's objective, give reasoning and justifications. In the words of John Gardner: "Meaning is not something you stumble across, like the answer to a riddle or the prize in a treasure hunt. Meaning is something you build into your life. You build it out of your own past, out of your affections and loyalties, out of the experience of humankind as it is passed on to you, out of your own talent and understanding, out of the things you believe in, out of the things and people you love, out of the values for which you are willing to sacrifice something. The ingredients are there. You are the only one who can put them together into that unique pattern that will be your life. Let it be a life that has dignity and meaning for you. If it does, then the particular balance of success or failure is of less account." The evaluation of the assignment will be based on nine (9) sections, which will be separately evaluated.
