Asteamtrapisacompact,relativelyinexpensivesolutionforcondensateremoval.Whetheroneis
betteroffapplyingasteamtraporacondensatepotinordertocontrolcondensateremovalfroma
steamheaterorreboilerisdependentonvariousfactorsthatshouldbetakenintoconsideration:
Thesizeofthecondensatestreamarelativelysmallamountofsteamcondensateisbetterremoved
withaconventionaltrap.
Theneedforaccuratecondensateremovalapotisamuchbettersolutionduetoitsabilitytoaccept
instrumentation,controls,andcondensatepumps.Sometimesthecondensatemustbereturnedtoa
remotelocatedpowerplantandacondensatepumpismandatoryinordertosuccessfullyreturnthe
condensatetotheparentboiler.
Thedegreeofheattransfercontrolapotcanbeusedtovarytheamountofcondensateleveland,
thereby,floodaportionoftubesintherelatedexchanger,reducingtheamountofheattransferareaand
theamountofheattransferred.
Theneedtoensurethatallcondensateiseffectivelyremovedfromtheheatingsysteminorderto
ensurethat100%ofitssurfaceiseffectivelycondensingsteamandtransferringheathere,apotis
almostmandatoryinordertomonitortherealcondensatelevelandensurerapidremoval.
Inshort,apotgivesyoualotofprocessflexibilitywhileasteamtrapisrestrictedbyitsnarrowscope
ofdesignandcapacity.
