Hector and Foxy have recently come into KAAP care and are
now searching the Kootenays for a new home together. Since
coming into KAAP, they have been vet-checked, and Foxy has
been spayed. Hector is a chihuahua, and Foxy is a chihuahua
/pomeranian cross. Both are 4 years old and have many, many
years of love and companionship to give. They have been
together since puppyhood and get along very well and would
like to find a new home together if possible. They are used to
being around children and other dogs. So far they seem very
snuggly and friendly. Their family relinquished them because
they could no longer give these two the time and attention

Climate Welcome
The new Canadian Prime Minister will have a Climate

Welcome at 24 Sussex Drive in Ottawa, and Castlegar citizens will be supporting this action.
The international environmental group 350.org will
greet the Prime Minister with a peaceful demonstration
at his residence on November 5. The next United Nations
Climate Change Conference starts in Paris on November 30, and it is for this reason that urgent action is being
taken to ensure that climate justice is an immediate priority for our Prime Minister and cabinet.
The Castlegar Citizens Concerned about the Climate
Crisis is a non-denominational group which has sent a letter of support and various symbolic items to show their
solidarity with those demonstrating in Ottawa. One of
those symbols is a small bottle of water from the Columbia-Kootenay river system, as safe water supplies are in
many ways threatened at present, and water itself can bring
the threat of devastating floods because of climate change.
In order to increase awareness, the local group is also
planning a peaceful action in Castlegar at the end of
November, immediately prior to the climate summit in
Paris.

Importance Of Digestion
Use your diet to feel your best! Kootenay Co-op will

be hosting a lecture on digestive health by Lisa Kilgour,
BCs favourite nutritionist! Her presentation will explore
the connection between gut bacteria, the immune system
and the brain. Participants will learn how to use diet and
good bacteria to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as how to use diet, dietary fat and gut bacteria
to reduce the fires of inflammation in the body. Finally,
Lisa will explain how to recognize good and not-so-good
fats in ones diet and how to feed the brain for optimum
performance! Join us at the Adventure Hotel, 616 Vernon
Street in Nelson, on Thursday, October 29 at 7 pm. Admission is free, so please arrive early as seating is limited.
