VACATION AND SICK LEAVE POLICY

SICK LEAVE
Sick Leave will accrue at 5 days per year. This amounts to 1.54 hours per bi-weekly pay period. Parttime employees and those employees who receive checks on a weekly basis accrue 0.77 hours per pay
period. Sick accrual is not dependent upon the length of service. There is no limit on the number of sick
leave hours that an employee may accrue. Accrued and unused sick leave shall not be paid upon
termination.
The sick leave benefit is provided for those instances where the employee or employees dependent(s)
become ill. Additionally, there may be other instances where the use of sick leave may be appropriate.
These instances might include taking your dependent(s) to the doctor or dentist, maternity, etc. You
cannot use your sick leave for vacation purposes.
If an employee is absent on sick leave for more than three (3) consecutive days, POWER may require a
note from a doctor. Employees are required to notify their supervisor as soon as possible when they miss
work due to an illness.
On days that sick leave is used, no more than eight (8) hours may be paid out to the employee.
