JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the application of scientific and engineering principles to the design of products and
processes.
This position is responsible for product improvement, including technology benchmarking for direct
application in manufacturing plants on a global basis, evaluation, material and process redesign and
integration into production operations, and product development, including, testing and analysis,
improvement of current product configuration, product and material innovation and integration of new
technology. Develops and facilitates the collection of product performance data and analyzes it in
conjunction with internal and external resources to identify and implement product and process
improvement. Documents product specifications, process conditions, process flows and standard methods.
Coordinates and completes product development and technical service projects within prescribed time
frames and cost constraints to ensure the organizations ability to be responsive to customer needs and
market innovation.

1.

Identifies, manages and works on material design and qualification and product
development/improvement projects. This includes working with the Vice President, Product and
Technology to develop and execute work plans for product and process development and
automation projects.

Supervises and coordinates activities of technical staff working in and with the R&D lab.
Develops and maintains project documents and calendars to document milestones and ensure
timely completion of projects, program requirements and product development within applicable
timeframes to meet customer, market and company requirements.

Works with fibers, yarns, fabrics, thread, backing, stabilizers, inks and dyes, sublimation, textile
finishes to improve current products and create new products, including, testing and analysis,
improvement of current product configuration, product and material innovation and integration of
new technology.

4.

Develops and maintains company knowledge database of materials available for use in the
creation of textile embellishment products including but not limited to: fabrics, threads, metallics,
plastics, adhesives and other materials that may become available over time. Determines and
defines raw material requirements, sets specification and testing requirements and testing methods
for existing and new materials. Develops an understanding of how to integrate these materials
into the Companys products and processes.

Identifies and implements product improvement, including benchmarking, evaluation, process or


material redesign and integration into production operations.

6.

Determines test requirements and test equipment used to determine conformance of Company
products to customer expectations. Develops and documents test procedures. Operates test
equipment as required.
