Hey Central Presbyterian Church,

Zach and I hope you are well. We just wanted to
say a quick THANK YOU for your continual
support and partnership in our ministry!
Because of your generous gift each quarter, we are
able to pay our rent. You literally are enabling us
to be fully committed to investing our time and energy into the students at Campbell University.
Without your support, we would not be able to do
so. Thank you so much!
Much love,
Zach & Stephanie Oyler

Walker Recital Thank You

The John Walker Recital on Sunday, September
27, 2015 was all I expected it would be and more.
However, it could not have been possible without
the excellent cooperation, expertise and help of
many people. Since space for this is very limited, I
will just have to say a great heartfelt THANK
YOU to everyone who had any part in preparation
for as well as taking an active role the day of the
recital. I do need to name Alex Shearer and say
thank you for a job well done as chair of the committee for this event as well as to you and Carolyn
for hosting Dr. Walker. (The rest of you I will
thank individually.)
Praise God for His goodness to Central through
this event.
Helen Wingert

Due to the Thanksgiving

being closed on Friday, Nov. 27
the deadline for Decembers
newsletter will be

2016 Offering envelopes will

be ordered November 13th.

will need to know if you wish

than November 11th at
cpc@centralonthesquare.org or call 264-4113.
Please make note that the Initial Offering which is
usually paid at the beginning of the new year has

One other way you may give is electronically thru

method to be easy and convenient. If you would
like to learn more on how to give electronically,
you can contact Missy Igou, Centrals Financial
Administrator at 264-1443, ext. 109, she will be
happy to help you set it up. Once your account is
established, you may request the special cards we
have in stock which you place in the offering

that: I support the work of the Lord Jesus
Christ and the community of Central through my
on-line giving.

JOY VILLAGE UPDATE

Last week the Joy Village received four children from the Huruma Crisis Center. While each child has a history of
neglect, they were welcomed with hugs and smiles by their new Joy Village family. As I looked at these smiling
faces I had to ask myself.where are their families?....who are these children?
...what has brought them to the Joy Village?
Let me share with you a few sound bites from these childrens past that will help us to identify needs, better
understand the challenges ahead...and see the greatness of our God.
Total orphanMother died of AIDSat 14 months, found abandoned
Father a street boyMother a street girl and died during delivery
Elder brother disabledNo one claimed the child
Alcoholic grandmotherAbandoned at the gate
I have to pause and thank our Lord for bringing these four children through
situations I cannot imagine. I am certain the harshness of these
sound bites will quickly be turned into an Oasis of Hope for them.
Thank you for all you do to make this miracle possible,
Rudy Miller

Our next literary adventure is:

YOUTH
GROUP

Whoah! How is it already November?? Time is FLYING by and Im reminded of

how the Spirit of God moves in us and through us to affect everyone around us.
Even and especially in this fast-paced life, every moment matters.

NEWS

Youth group:
We have officially begun our new layout in youth group! The focus of
the group changes weekly, but we follow the same guidelines month to
month.

Week 1: Spiritual Growth and Study

Week 2: Outreach
Week 3: Community
Week 4: Worship
Our theme for October was Problems and Gods Plan. In week one, we watched a moving video about a
woman named Karen and compared her spiritual transformation to that of Zaccheus. In week two, we went to
go see the movie War Room and went on a prayer outreach walk around downtown Chambersburg. In week
three, the Sharp family provided family dinner for us and we got to hear two guest speakers from Women in
Need speak about how God is using them to meet needs in our community. And in week four, we studied worship through creative arts and athletics.
Novembers theme is First Doesnt Work. Its going to be awesome!
Thank you to all of our committed volunteers! We couldnt do youth ministry without you! If you are interested in serving God through the youth, come find Erin!
Middler Sunday School:
Thanks to Don and Shelley Marangoni for teaching this class! What a blessing you are!The Middlers just finished a series called "made to worship." The structure of the class is usually a related game/activity, large
group lesson, and then small groups breakout where they are to present/ teach the class what they learned
based on the small group questions.
Week 1 - Discussed God's awesomeness, by looking around at nature, the universe... Having a reckless abandoned worship for God. Psalm 19:1-4.
Week 2 - How do we worship? 2 Samuel 6 - they even had a dance off!
Week 3 - Ways to Worship - compare/contrast contemporary and traditional. Focused on 5 elements - Shouts
of Praise, Prayer, Reading God's Word, Sacrifices, and Music. Various readings from Psalms.
Week 4 - Where to worship - John 4:19-24 - Old Testament / New Testament.
Higher Sunday School:
Thanks to Scott and Madeline Wilson for leading this class! Youre wonderful!
The Highers have been continuing the Rob Bell Nooma curriculum, interspersed with fun days here and
there! Sunday mornings are always exciting and enriching for this group.
*Thanks to everyone who stopped in the youth hallway during the October 18th open house!
Youre welcome to come back anytime!*
Youth Missions:
We have several fundraisers coming up to help fund our mission team trips for Summer 2016! The first is at
Texas Roadhouse on Monday November 16th! Our mission team will get 10% of the proceeds that come in
that night from anyone with one of our flyers! Mark a night out on your calendars for us!

News from Heartbeat Central Childrens Ministry

Missions:
Our Kids Helping Navajo Kids!
Our Sunday School children help support two Navajo brothers
Zach and Lakota - who live at the Four Corners Home for
Children at Navajo Ministries in Farmington, New Mexico.
Children come to the Four Corners Home for Children from
many places for a variety of reasons. All come from situations
of extreme poverty, abuse and neglect. Most come with nothing; no clothing or other personal items. They are all so thankful for food, safety, and loving adults that provide the care that they so richly deserve.
You can help by donating in one of the mission jar s located on the end table by the front doors on Lincoln Way West and on the 3rd floor under the Navajo Ministries display. Check out Navajo Ministries on facebook, at
www.NavajoMinistries.org, #FourCornersHomeforChildren, or www.fourcornershomeforchildren.org.

Beginning with the November Window, the Finance Committee will provide a monthly recap of the
year to date Church Finances. These will always be one month behind. You are receiving the performance
through the end of September, 2015 with this newsletter. You should note that the monthly deficit between operating budget contributions for September 2015 lagged the monthly expenses by $7181. Year to
date, expenses lagged contributions by $79,137. We fortunately have had investment income from our
trusts of $68,418 that partially offset this deficit. Through September, we have also had to withdraw
$20,000 from investment principle to insure we have sufficient cash to meet our obligations. Since we are
entering the final two months of 2015, we ask you to fulfill your annual pledges to ensure we finish 2015
in a strong financial position. If you have any questions on Centrals finances, please contact Missy Igou,

Looking ahead to December

The series Advent Noontime Musical Meditations will be held
again this year at Central Presbyterian Church for the 4 Wednesdays
in Advent. Be sure to mark your calendars for December 2, 9, 16, and
23 from 12 - 12:30. Details to follow but will include organ, other
instruments, and vocal music.
Mothers Day Out will be inviting our families to come to
Central on December 17th & 18th for our annual Christmas
program. This year, we have decided to host a cookie reception after the singing portion of our program. We are in need of Centrals fabulous bakers to volunteer to bake some cookies for our
reception! Cookies can be brought to the kitchen December 16th
and please clearly mark the containers with masking tape saying
for MDO by (your name). This way we can be sure to get the container back to you after
our reception. In addition, we have some children with peanut allergies, so please keep
these cookies separate and clearly mark them as having peanut butter and/or nuts!
If you are able to help make cookies please contact MDO at 264-4113, ext. 116, or email
Shelley Marangoni (dsmarangoni@comcast.net) or Kathy Klink (klinkpk@comcast.net).

Cold Weather Drop In Shelter Meals: An opportunity is available to provide a warm meal on a cold night to homeless members of our community. Central continues to reach out
and help where needed as we provide meals the first and third
Fridays from December through March at the Cold Weather
Drop in Shelter located at 195 Loudon St. Eight warm nourishing
meals for hungry men and women of our community. Meals and a beverage should
be delivered to the shelter at 7:00. The shelter provides utensils and dishes. All we
have to do is deliver the meal. Bring the meals in disposable containers. There is a
sign up sheet on the Mission bulletin board across from the office. This is a wonderful
opportunity to serve our community. Partner with another family to share the meal
preparation. If you have any questions please call Bill McKelvie at 477-2132.

Central will be ringing Bells again this year for the Salvation Army. We will be
ringing at the Butcher Shoppe on Saturday Dec 5 from 11 am to 7 pm. This is a
great location to ring because you will be inside! There is a sign up sheet on
the Mission bulletin board across from the office. We need 2 ringers per hour
so please sign up for 1 or 2 hour shifts. If you have any questions please call
Bill McKelvie at 477-2132. A little bit of time will go a long way for those less
fortunate in our community.
