The Run Down BioPOD is the official podcast of The University of Edinburghs School of Biological Sciences. The series was relaunched in April and we are now looking for a new logo design to match our new format and team. The podcast is meant to entertain and inform students of biology (as well as interested members of the public) about research coming out of the School of Biological Sciences. We aim to present this in a fun and accessible format for our listeners. Think Radio 4 audience! You can find out more about the podcast here: http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/biology/news-events/biopod You can also follow us on Twitter: @BioPODEdinburgh and find us on Facebook The Competition This is an opportunity for you to show off your skills and get your work seen by a large audience. BioPOD is listened to in many different countries around the world and is free to access on iTunes U. Please listen to the Ada Lovelace Day special released this October to get what we are about!
Requirements and guidelines
Must include the word BioPOD Otherwise you are free to include any design elements you think would relate well to biology, the podcast or Edinburgh. All entries should be submitted in a format which is readable on a computer without need for specialist software - e.g. .PNG, .JPG, .PDF etc. are all fine Please be aware that the logo will most often be seen as a thumbnail because it will be used as an icon on social media and iTunes, so it must be simple enough to be visible when small. The winning entry will be announced in a future episode and the designer will receive the 50 Amazon Voucher prize. Email all entries to biopod@ed.ac.uk by December 4th 2015 Small print We are a non-profit operation and as such, any entry would be given to us for our use and could not be withdrawn. You would be signing over the rights for us to use your logo design indefinitely, free of charge, with the understanding that we would not make any money from it. We would have unrestricted usage rights to the logo (again with the understanding that it was to be used only in a not for profit context). We are under no obligation to pick a winning entry should none of the designs meet our expectations. If your design is chosen, we would take it forward and work with you to produce variations on it for the purpose of a Twitter header, iTunes artwork and images for display screens in the School of Biological Sciences buildings, so we would rely on your proficiency with handling and understanding pixel dimensions for these different formats. The University website requires 100x130, iTunes requires a square logo (i.e. 130x130). The display screens (in Ashworth/Swann buildings) require 960x720 images. However, submissions should consist of a single image which reflects your overall design for the logo. Any variations on the logo can be discussed with the winner. For any other questions regarding the competition or BioPOD, please feel free to email biopod@ed.ac.uk
