We have a few exciting events coming up. The first is our

Member Appreciation event at Isley Brewing Company on
September 14. I encourage you to attend, as this event is an
excellent networking opportunity and was one of our most
popular events last year. You can find more details below, as
well as information on how to sign up. We also have a technical
meeting in October featuring Adam Matteo of VDOT. More
details on this meeting will be available on our website in the
coming weeks.
Lastly, I want to extend a special thank you to a few people.
First, to our Past President Brooke Jackson. Brooke did so
much in the past year to serve our members and move our
Branch forward, and I know she will be an invaluable resource to
me throughout this next year. I also want to thank Kevin O'Neill
for his many years of service as our Webmaster. Kevin has done
a tremendous job building and maintaining our website, as well
as assisting the Virginia Section with their website. Kevin is
beginning his MBA studies and while we are sad to see him

Recent Events
Squirrels Game Outing

The Squirrels game event was an outstanding success with

ASCE packing the party deck on Friday, July 31. Everyone had
a great time snacking on the peanuts and popcorn, networking
with their neighbors and enjoying the game! To top it all off, the
Squirrels ended with a 6-1 victory over Binghamton. Thanks
again to all who came out!
Joint Social with WTS, ASHE, ASCE and VASITE Members

On Wednesday, July 22, 2015 a Joint Social event was

hosted with collaboration from WTS, ASHE, ASCE and VASITE
members. It was a free event to attend for members of the
organizations and there was a turnout of over 50 people at the
Capital Ale House in Downtown Richmond. It was a great way
for people to slow down in the craziness of the summer and to
reconnect with existing friends and meet with new faces. The
joint social is hosted annually every summer and if you missed
it, be sure to check it out next year! A special thanks goes out to
WTS for leading the logistics of the event.

Younger Member News

Upcoming 2015 Younger Member Leadership Symposium!
At the Younger Member Leadership Symposium (YMLS),
participants will gain practical leadership and management
training that will directly apply to their careers as young
engineers. ASCE is pleased to announce that you can earn up
to 8 PDH credits by attending this conference. There will also be
networking opportunities with young engineers and other ASCE
Branch, Section and Region leaders.
When: 6pm on Saturday, September 19, 2015 - 1pm on Monday,
September 21, 2015
Where: ASCE Headquarters in Reston, VA
Cost: $50 registration fee to offset the cost of food
