The following paragraph numbers refer to API STD 675, Second Edition, October 1994,
which is part of this Specification. The text in each paragraph below is an addition to this
Standard unless it is noted as an exception. Paragraph numbers which do not appear in
API STD 675 are new paragraph numbers to be inserted in numerical order.

This Specification, together with the Pump Data Sheet and Purchase Order,
defines the minimum mandatory requirements for positive displacement,
controlled volume pumps of the diaphragm and packed plunger types.
Diaphragm pumps using direct mechanical actuation are excluded from this
Specification.

Conflicting Requirements

Any conflicts between this Specification and other applicable Saudi Aramco
Materials System Specifications (SAMSSs), Engineering Standards (SAESs),
Standard Drawings (SASDs) or industry standards, codes and forms shall be
resolved in writing by the Company or Buyer Representative through the
Manager, Consulting Services Department, Saudi Aramco, Dhahran.

Thermowells
Thermowells shall be in accordance with Form 8020-418-ENG or
Form 8020-418-M-ENG. Wake and natural frequency calculations shall be
performed in accordance with ASME PTC 19.3 Part 3. The insertion length
shall satisfy a wake to natural frequency ratio of 0.8.

The Vendor shall be responsible for ensuring that the following
situations are avoided:
- cavitation in the suction or discharge of the pump;
- over delivery due to suction losses or uncontrolled delivery;
- exceeding maximum allowable working pressure of pressure
containing parts (including auxiliaries).
The Vendor shall provide any fittings required for charging the pulsation
dampers. These shall be securely fastened to the pump.
