CURRICULAR STATEMENT
To develop different dimensions of knowledge on topic elements of periodic
table through experiments, observation, discussion and evaluation by
questioning observation of practical works, reporting presentation etc and
applied the knowledge in unfamiliar situations.

Elements are the particles having same type of atom.


Periodic table is the orderly arrangement of elements
into various groups.

To enable the pupil

1) to identify the characteristics of elements and recognize


the same for developing acquiring factual knowledge

2) to explain the characteristics and names of elements for


developing conceptual knowledge

3) practicing the practical work for developing procedural


knowledge

Presentation
Teacher divided the students into 6 groups. They
are given names A,B,C,D,E,F and ask them to do
the following activities.

Students are arranged into groups.

Activity I
I am going to introduce a small and happy life like
ours. This family also consists of grand
parents,parents,father,mother,grand children etc.
Come on.we can go to the home. Name of this
house is periodic villa. While reaching there, we
can see grand father of this family. He was sitting
infront of the house. He welcomed us and after
having a friendly talk, he introduced members of
his family. It is given below.

Father - Lithium (Li)
Grandfather - Hydrogen (H)
Grand Child - Boron ( B)
Grand Mother - Helium (He)

Oxygen is a gas which helps for combustion and
present in our body. It is represented by symbol

Gold : Really,but we dont have that
problem.Because we are wanted by many people.
Silver: Oh..
Gold : Eventhough we are very costly, people
want us more than you.
Silver: We are good conductors of gold. So we are
also wanted by people . From ancient days
onwards we are used for making coins. Therefore
we have our own position everywhere,so we are
great.
Gold : No, we are called yellow metals. We are
also known as Aurum. We are represented by
Au.Do you have any name like this?
Silver : Yes.Of course, we also have another
name like you. We are also known as Argentum
and our symbol is Ag.
Platinum : Stop it.why are you quarelling like
small children. We all have our own important
also we all are wanted by people for different
purposes.
Hearing this, both gold and silver feel ashamed
and said sorry to each other.
