Purpose of Creating Variants

Dynamic value population on to variables can be achieved using Variants, for example in information
broadcasting.
Lets take the example of Report RXXXX.

How to Create Variants

Lets take the example of Report RXXXX.

Create a variant Z9000V2.
Go to transaction SM30, Enter table TVARV and choose maintain.

Hit the Green check.

Switch to change mode.

Choose the Individual Maintenance button.

Enter a name of your any system variable (e.g. YQVORDST) which is being used in the query, make
sure it is of type Select option and choose New.

Enter the value for this system variable and choose save.

Launch the Bex Analyzer and run a query with user input variables. At the variable screen, hit the
save button to save a variant after you have populated your values.

Choose a variant name and description. If this is for Broadcasting only we can protect the variant
from any change by choosing the Protect variant option.

Maintain the setting ( Selection Variables = T Variable entry form TVARVC) against Date range in
the Variant Z9000V2 ,so that Date Range picks the corresponding values maintained in TVARVC.

Choose the system variable that we defined earlier.

Save the variant. Now we can overwrite the system variable with the value specified in the variant as
shown below.

After selecting variant it is changed to CRTD.

How it will be used in information Broadcasting Settings

So now we can use Z9000V2 variant in the variant option while doing the Broadcasting setting to
broadcast any report to populate the variables with values dynamically as shown below:-
