Do not treat each crisis as a deterrent and hindrance to your way to success.

Instead, use it as a platform and springboard to get there. A lady with sunny
personality, thats what she is. She describes herself as a lady who makes the most
of what life has to offer. She always faces each day with an optimistic smile.
She is Miss Jeseca Advincula Tamayao, born on October 7, 1989 at Mariveles,
Bataan. She is the daughter of Josephine Ramos Advincula and Jesus Arao Tamayao.
Her mother is from Mariveles and his father is from Cagayan Valley. She is the
seventh in the brood of ten. Born and raised in a big family, she grew up a happy
environment where childhood meant wonderful memories and childhood games
meant fishing in the river, tumbang preso, piko and Chinese garter.
She spent her elementary in Antonio G. Llamas Elementary School and her
secondary education in Mariveles National High School Poblacion. She earned her
degree in Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English in Polytechnic
University of the Philippines-Bataan Campus. During college, she was an active
member of their college debating team and cheering squad. She was even sent to
PUP-Manila to compete for an essay writing contest. She also served in their
department as a councilor and head of the academic committee. She believes that
her college life has been the most enjoying stage of her life as a student.
After getting her degree in April 2011, she took the Licensure Examination for
Teachers in September 2011. With hard work, encouragement from the people
around her and faith in God, she passed the examination. When I took the licensure
examination, I set my mind that I only have two choices: to pass the exam or to
pass it with flying colours. Failing should have no place in my choices. Thats what
you call Law of Attraction. It worked for me, she said.
After passing the examination, her next dilemma is finding a job. I had no plans of
teaching after I got my teaching license. I wanted to work, yes. But teaching was
not in my mind that time. I applied for an office work in Mitsumi Phils. I passed the
requirements and examination and I was just waiting for the final interview. The
interview was scheduled at 1 in the afternoon. Then at 9 in the morning, I got a
phone call from Mr. Quirino G. Barlis, the principal of Mariveles National High SchoolPoblacion. He told me that he was looking for me and that I should report in the
school because he will hire me. I was really torn that time. I sought for the advice of
my friends and they told me to choose teaching. I thought about my decision for so
many times and I grabbed the offer. Thats the story on how I landed on my
teaching job. I guess its divine intervention. God wants me to be here. He wants me
to teach, she recalled with a smile.
On January 16, 2012, she started teaching in her alma mater, Mariveles National
High School-Poblacion. Her first year in teaching was not easy. She had to learn
things the hard way. But through the help of her co teachers, she eventually got the
hang of it. She is currently handling third year classes.

She said handling 6 classes a day with more or less 50 students per classes is not a
piece of cake. You will be dealing with hundreds of students with different attitudes,
abilities and backgrounds. The challenge is not to make them learn but to make
them love learning and to make them realize that learning is fun.
I believe that learning is a lifelong process, she remarked. Learning, she said,
doesnt stop after college. Learning continues as long as you are living. To assert
this, she is currently taking up her masters degree at Tomas Del Rosario College,
major in Educational Management. She wants to pursue her studies up to doctoral
degree. She said she still has a lot of things to accomplish and she still has to learn
a lot of things.
I asked her if there is a formula in getting where she is now. She said there is no
exact formula in being successful. I dont even consider myself as successful. I
guess you are interviewing the wrong person, she said with a laugh. Kidding aside,
I know its a clich but I know I wont be here if not for the persons who helped me
along the way. God sends blessings through other people. Aside from my family and
friends, I will forever be indebted to my teachers and mentors. Dr. Gloria S. Santos
is one of my inspirations. I want to have the same passion that she has for teaching.
I dont know where she gets that. I think thats innate.
Before we departed, she left me some pieces of advice and wisdom on how she got
where she is now. I guess everything that happens to you is really a product of your
choices in life. So choose to be happy, to be right and to be the best that you can
be. Always believe that you can do things because no one will believe you if you will
not believe in yourself. The road to success is not a smooth ride. There will be
bumps and hurdles along the way. There will be haters, there will be doubters, there
will be non-believers, and then there has to be you proving them wrong.
I asked her if she has an advice for me which will help me in the future and she
ended the interview with this, Study hard. PRAY HARDER.
