CIRCLE IS THE NEW SQUARE

Giving a little thought mathematically, to the two geometrical shapes- circle and square,
nothing is common in between.
Going ahead mathematically,

Area of a circle = . R^2; R being the radius of the circle

Area of a square = S^2; S being the length of the side of the square
So, can these two areas be equal ever? Let us equate
. R^2 = S^2; that implies R. ^(1/2) = S
So even if radius of circle and square side are equal in length their areas can never be
same. This seems next to impossible, that is squaring the circle. Numerically, they can
be equal, but holistically it is a daunting task.
So when we say that circle is the new square, whatever be the area of application, it
will be disagreed by most both in figurative and actual sense. But, with changing
times, advancing technologies, higher ambitions, increasing desires, nearly everything
being dynamic, a major chunk would find it agreeable.
Square being equal on all sides and diagonals being equal, has always been a symbol
for a foundation, a structure, fixation. It depicts integrity, dependability and stability
essentially. In view of any organizational structure, it is about execution, building up
and manifestation of ideas into reality. On the other hand, a circle depicts inclusivity,
focus, completion and wholeness.
Hence, in one of the many opinions about the trueness of a circle being the new
square, is understanding the significance of inclusivity, focus and wholeness in
structure and foundation of any process, plan or values of any organizationgovernment, company or area of relationships and families.
Illustrating this point, consider the example of our government. After so many years
of struggle, in 2007, inclusive growth, a concept that promotes equitable opportunities
for economic participants during economic growth with benefits incurred by every
section of the society, became the agenda of the eleventh five year plan. The growth
of our country has not been uniform in all these years and thats why inclusive growth
is being stressed upon as it intends to achieve not only faster but a growth process that
ensures broad based improvement in the quality of life of the people in terms of HDI,
poverty, unemployment, regional disparities, gender, rural-urban gap and others. This
involves including the weaker sections of the society, below poverty line people,
women, and others to get their contribution.

Therefore this explains that how inclusivity is the essence of any structure or how a
circle is the new square.
Even in case of products and services of companies, instead of focussing on a single
target group, they are designing products considering their income levels, their
interests and other factors so as to cater to the needs of different sections of the
society. For instance, smart phone manufacturers like Micromax, Nokia, they have
designed cell phones with diversified features in different price ranges so that cell
phones and then smart phones can reach to all the sections.
Also, companies are targeting niche segments and creating new markets for their
products for example smart phones for blind people. Hence, this is another example of
Circle is the new square- including all in the foundation.
Similarly, Indian families have believed in including everyone from the family on all
occasions whether it be any festival or ceremony. This has been the Indian tradition
regardless of the religion or caste and is continuing. So the statement that circle is the
new square holds true for relationships and families in India, currently.
