Position: Broadcast Media Buyer

Job Description
The primary role of the Media Buyer will be to provide assistance to the Media Supervisor in
research, planning and placement of all clients projects.
Primary responsibilities would include:

Negotiating and placing media schedules

Enters media schedules into STRATA and generates insertion orders for all media

Makes timely placement of broadcast media according to schedules and confirms


placement prior to the ad(s) running

Establishes deadlines for needed creative and reports deadlines to the Client Services
department

Assists in gathering of market research

Assists in executing media plans

Maintains all resource and media files

Alerts Media Account Manager of special media offers/placement opportunities

Issues agency media budgets and reports as requested

Promptly approves all media invoices and settles billing discrepancies with media
vendors and accounting

Coordinates and manages multiple projects simultaneously

Interact with client services team to gain an understanding of media needs/recommend


media solutions

*Due to the fact that the position requires purchasing significant amounts of media with client
funds, the Media Buyer position requires a high degree of ethics and integrity.

*The Media Buyer is also expected to protect the confidential information that is part of the
planning process.
Job Requirements
The Media Buyer is required to:

rapidly with multiple items in prioritized sequence.

Demonstrate flexibility to adjust to rapidly changing requirements and schedules.

Education and Experience

4-year college degree or equivalent in marketing or advertising

2 years of Broadcast Media Buying Experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrates the ability to perform well and remain organized under tight deadlines

Demonstrates a desire to learn, willingness to do both menial tasks and take on more
complex challenges

Strong ability to multi-task projects/tasks as well as communicate with other departments

Proficient computer skills including (STRATA, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS


Outlook, MS PowerPoint)

System Skills Required

Consistently demonstrate the ability to understand and use all current media
hardware/software programs

Demonstrate willingness to accept direction from management and peers to improve


quality and performance.

Demonstrate willingness to work together with peers and other departments to improve
quality and performance.
