Context
Lockmar Elementary School is located in Palm Bay, Florida. Our mission
statement is Lockmar parents, staff, and students will strive to achieve our
vision for excellence:
ACHIEVEMENT - To continue the pursuit of outstanding academic
performance.
CURRICULUM - To monitor our curriculum and update technological
areas for the future needs of our children and society.
UNITY - To unify the staff, students, parents, and members of the
community to mold Lockmar into extended family.
RESPECT - To develop self-esteem, respect for others and positive
attitudes.
COMMUNITY - To use all resources in providing enrichment experiences
for our students.
We currently have approximately 730 students and 60 teachers from grades
preK-6th. Lockmars third grade team consists of 5 teachers and 97
students. My class currently consists of twenty third graders, most of which
have internet access at home. Our team needs more time to differentiate
content for higher student achievement and critical thinking in class. We
would benefit from flipping our classrooms, meaning that our students will
spend time learning the content for their homework assignments, then have
more in-class time for differentiated mini-lessons, rotations, assignments,
and project-based learning.
Learning Goals and Objectives
During the internship, I will develop and refine my skills, knowledge and
ability to:

Create standard-based instructional videos using tools to assist with


screencasting and video making.
Design and develop a student- and parent-friendly website for easy
access to content at home.
Produce project-based learning, differentiated, and student-centered
assignments for within the classroom.
Implement Google Classroom for homework and classwork
assignments.
Create and implement web-based quizzes.
Evaluate and modify instruction, as needed, based on feedback and
student achievement.

Responsibilities and Tasks


To achieve my objectives, I will:
Prioritize math standards
Develop a student-friendly website
Design videos and tutorials to teach standards
Create videos and tutorials
Publish content to a user-friendly website
Encourage students to access content at home
Design and develop in-class activities to check for understanding and
encourage critical thinking skills
Design and implement formative and summative assessments
Use feedback and assessment data to create and modify, as needed
Integrate Google Classroom as a technology based tool both at school
and at home
Deliverables
To demonstrate achievement of my objectives, I will submit for my internship
portfolio:
Data for prioritized standards
Outlines for video creation
Images of website
Link to website
Lesson plans
Resources/tools created and used within the classroom
Copy of formative and summative assessments, including data
3-10 page reflection

My mentor and I will meet to discuss and modify, as needed.


Week 1
- Meet with mentor and discuss proposal
- Create contract and plan for internship
- Design and develop user-friendly website
- Start prioritizing standards
Week 2
- Continue prioritizing standards
- Create outlines of video tutorials
- Start creating video tutorials and uploading to website
Week 3
- Complete creating and uploading video tutorials to website
- Begin designing in-class activities
- Design and implement summative/formative assessments
Week 4-8
- Continue working on video tutorials
- Continue designing and using in-class activities
- Use data and feedback to revise, as needed
- Make final edits and revisions to portfolio submissions
- Write 3-10 page reflection and submit to Dr. Smyth
- Submit portfolio products to Dr. Smyth
