Example:
3. DISTINCTION OF MALE AND FEMALE CONNECTORS
Male and female connectors are distinguished by shape
of their internal pins.
(a) All connectors are shown from the open end, and
the lock is on top.
(b) To pull apart the connectors, pull on the connector
itself, not the wires.
Female Male HINT: Check t o see what kind of connector you are dis-
connecting before pulling apart.

NOTICE:
1. Turn o f f all electrical components and the ignition
switch before replacing a fuse or fusible link. Do not
exceed the fuse or fusible link amperage rating.
2. Always use a fuse puller for removing and inserting
a fuse. Remove and insert straight in and out with-
out twisting. Twisting could force open the termi-
nals too much, resulting in a bad connection.
If a fuse or fusible link continues t o blow, a short circuit is
indicated. The system must be checked by a qualified
technician.
HINT: The puller is located at Junction block No.2.
RTR
Take Care When Inspecting Headlight Circuit
. CAUTION: With the headlight switch OFF, disconnect
the "RTR" ( 3 0 A l fuse before beginning work.
4 To lgnition SW

the check point.
Example:
@ - lgnition SW on
@- I lgnition SW and SW 1 on
0 - lgnition SW, SW 1 and Relay on (SW 2 off)
1 1 voltmeter
(b) Using a voltmeter, connect the negative ( - ) lead t o
a good ground point or negative ( - ) battery terminal
and the positive ( + ) lead t o the connector or com-
ponent terminal. This check can be done with a test
bulb instead of a voltmeter.
4#--- Solenoid
Diqital Tvpe Analog Type (c) Use a volt/ohmmeter with high impedance ( 1 0 k/V
minimum) for troubleshooting of the electrical cir-
cuit.
JE[
Ohmmeter (a) Remove the bulb.
(b) There should be continuity between the respective
(c)
terminals of the bulb together with a certain amount
of resistance.
Apply the t w o leads of the ohmmeter to each of the
terminals.
(dl Apply battery voltage and check that the bulb light

BE-8 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - Precautions
PRECAUTIONS
Take care t o observe the following precautions when performing inspections or removal and replacement
of body electrical related parts.
2. AUDIO SYSTEM
If the battery negative ( - ) terminal is disconnected, the preset AM, FM 1 and F M 2 stations stored
in memory are erased, so be sure t o note the stations and reset them after the bettery terminal is
reconnected.
If the battery negative (--) terminal is disconnected, the "ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM" will operate when
the terminal is reconnected, but the radio, tape player and CD player will not operate. Be sure t o
input the correct ID number so that the radio, tape player and CD player can be operated again.
