Performance Evaluation for Kyle Houston

Inez,
After reviewing the team performance evaluations for Kyle Houston, I
have concluded that he needs further development before he is ready for a
promotion. I am basing my recommendation on my own experience working
with him and input from fifteen of his peers. He demonstrates an excellent
potential, and with further development, will be a great asset to our
company.
Kyles overall performance score was 2.42. In the contributing section,
he received a 2.83, which shows he is proficient at offering ideas,
suggestions and solutions to problems. He attended all the meetings and
met all deadlines assigned, and in his work on the strategic plan team, Kyle
was the main contributor of solutions. He exemplifies the ability to think
creatively and critically, which is a skill that his peers can learn from. Kyles
peers have confidence in his abilities to solve problems, which is evident in
his high score in the area. His knowledge of business strategy and
proficiency with clients leads me to believe he will be very successful with
our company.
In the area of listening, Kyle received 1.96. Many of his peers gave him
zeroes in this area. Although he was the main contributor of solutions, he had
difficulty letting other members contribute. He also had trouble clarifying or
understanding other members contributions. In addition, he appeared
offended when any of his ideas or solutions would be countered with a better
answer to the problem. Listening to peers is an area where Kyle needs
further development. Before receiving a promotion, Kyle would need to be
developed with more of a capable listening ability.
Finally, in facilitating group problem solving, Kyle received a 2.18. I
have not had much of an opportunity to observe him in this area to make a
recommendation, but a couple of his peers gave him zeroes in this area as
well. I suppose that he possesses the ability to facilitate group problem
solving, as he is proficient in finding solutions to problems, but he has not
been given the opportunity to develop his skills in this area.
Kyle has an excellent potential for development and I believe he will be
a great asset to Anders. I would be happy to work with Kyle to improve his
listening skills and determine which programs will best develop his ability to
facilitate group problem solving. I would like to develop Kyle so that he can
be promoted when the next position becomes available.
Thank you for valuing me as a Team Leader and asking my opinion on
this decision, it means a great deal to me that you respect my work and my
opinions as a member of your company.
