A View from the Shepherd

Was there ever a senior citizen in your life that
REALLY taught you something by their words or actions?
I am AMAZED at the many elderly people that have
shown me great faith, courage and witness. Todays Gospel has the
famous story of the widow and her small contribution. We
ALWAYS hear stories about people encountering Jesus and being
healed or transformed. In this story it is WE who can be
transformed by the power of that elderly widow who lives Jesus in
her heart and example. We should truly understand and emulate her
contribution in our own lives. Its also called the ripple effect.
Never underestimate the wisdom of the sages; never look at the
elderly as not being able to contribute; always make time for
themthey who have given us the past so that we can make the
present into the future! Thank an elderly person in a supportive
way this week. Truly, theyre the GREAT GENERATION!
Convocation 2016 plans are underway. I hope that may from
Good Shepherd will sign up as soon as registration materials are
made available. Its a great opportunity to meet people from across
the nation who are joining in the joyous spirit of The American
National Catholic Church!
Veterans Day is this week. Thank-You to all the courageous
women and men in our country who have given service for our
freedoms. Good Shepherd joins in the great round of applause or a
bowed head of appreciation, respect, honor and praise!

A Prayer for Veterans Day

Dear Lord, Today we honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best
when they were called upon to serve and protect their country. We pray that you will
bless them, Lord, for their unselfish service in the continual struggle to preserve our
freedoms, our safety, and our countrys heritage, for all of us. Bless them abundantly
for the hardships they faced, for the sacrifices they made, for their many different
contributions to Americas victories over tyranny and oppression. We respect them, we
thank them, we honor them, we are proud of them, and we pray that you will watch
over these special people and bless them with peace and happiness. In Jesus name we
pray, Amen.

GOD BLESS OUR VETERANS
