SUBMITTALS
A.

Refer to Division 1 and Section 15050, "Basic Mechanical Materials and Methods," for
general requirements.
Prior to designing and creating submittals the contractor shall contact and meet with
the Architect to review and discuss the aesthetic constraints which may impact the
placement of exposed portions of the system.

B.

Product Data: Provide submittals on all items furnished under this section excluding
pipe and fittings.

C.

Closeout Submittals: Submit Operating and Maintenance (O&M) data and parts list
for each item of equipment, control and accessory; including "troubleshooting"
maintenance guide.

Codes: All work, materials, and equipment shall comply with the rules and
regulations of all codes and ordinances of the local, state, and federal
authorities. Such codes, where applicable, shall take precedence over these
plans and specifications. As a minimum, the installation shall comply with the
latest published version of the following codes:

Water and/or wastewater agencies having jurisdictional control of the area


in which the project is to be constructed.

Gas water heaters shall be AGA certified.


Instantaneous steam to domestic water heat exchangers shall be ASME &
NSF certified.

Manufacturer's Special Warranty:

10-year warranty.

Provide plumbing fixtures complete with trim, supply, and waste connections as
scheduled on the drawings.

C.

All exposed trim shall be chrome-plated brass unless otherwise specified in schedule.

D.

Electric Water Coolers shall be ARI rated and UL listed and shall comply with the
lead-free definition in the Safe Drinking Water Act and the 1988 Lead Contamination
Control Act.

E.

All mixing valve, shower valves, drinking fountains, and faucets shall be certified per
NSF Standard 61, Section 9.

F.

Fixtures and trim: All vitreous fixtures shall be of a quality commercially known as
'Twice-Fired Vitreous China'. All enameled ware shall be cast-iron with 'Acid-Resisting
Enamel'.

WATER HEATER: INSTANTANEOUS STEAM-TO-DOMESTIC WATER


A

Description: Packaged, commercial, instantaneous, helical tube-type heat exchanger,


without storage capacity; for heating water with steam.

Construction: ASME code, with 150-psig working-pressure rating.

C.

Heat Exchanger: cast steel shell for steam, helical coil, admiralty brass water tubes,
hastalloy plug and seat.

Pressure Rating: ASME U stamped equal to or greater than steam supply


pressure.
Connection Points: Factory fabricated connection points for piping, relief valve,
pressure gauge, thermometer, vent, and controls as required. Attach tappings
to shell and piping before testing and labeling.

Temperature Control: Feed forward control with adjustable thermostat that operates
water-control valve and that is capable of maintaining outlet-water temperature within
+/-3 deg F of setting over water flows from 3% to 100% of rated flow. Adjustable
setpoint from 105-150 F.

E.

Safety Controls:
Automatic, high-temperature-limit cutoff device or system.
Differential pressure sensing device to shutdown steam flow if the water pressure
drops below the steam pressure.

F.

Water-Control Valve: Automatic unit with sensor for blending hot and cold water to
set outlet-water temperature.

Provide an integrally mounted recirculation kit with a thermostatic valve for


maintaining recirculated water temperature.

H.

Stand: Unit shall be skid-mounted, factory pre-assembled and fabricated for floor
mounting,.

Provide with insulation jacket for the shell.

Provide with a thermometer and steam pressure gauge with pigtail.

K.

Warranty: Ten-year warranty on the heat exchanger covering the coil as well as the
pressure vessel.

Provide unit with capacity as specified on drawings.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1

INSTALLATION

Set fixtures level with solid backing behind lavatory supports.


Provide chrome-plated anchor bolts and washers for all lavatories and china bolt
caps for all floor-mounted water closets.
Remove all labels, clean fixtures, and leave installation ready for use.
Provide rigid bracing for each flush valve stub-out.
Connections to individual fixtures shall not be less than sizes scheduled on the
drawings unless otherwise specifically noted.
Seal all cracks between fixture and wall, and/or counter top, and/or floor with
matching color sealant equal to General Electric silicone.
Provide chrome-plated escutcheon plates at all exposed water and waste pipe
penetrations through walls.
Provide floor-supported hangers for all wall-mounted fixtures.

Water Heater:

Provide isolation valves and dielectric waterways.


Pipe relief valve discharge to within 4 inches of the floor. Anchor end of pipe to
adjacent surface.
