e-Learning in Romania

AeL eLearning solution is based on international principles and standards that support modern
education, being designed as complementary tool to classical teaching/learning methods. AeL
offers support for all participants in the educational process (students, teachers, administrative
personnel, parents, civil society). AeL can be used successfully in the teaching and learning
process, testing and evaluation, educational content administration, monitoring the results of
training and evaluation, education forecasting, trends and prognosis.
Today, AeL eLearning solution is successfully deployed in over 15,000 schools from Europe,
Middle East, Africa and CIS. The AeL eContent Library comprises 3,700 interactive lessons,
covering over 20 subjects and includes over 16,000 reusable learning objectsThe development
of ICT ( Information and Communication Technology )
In the past 10 ten years led to an unprecedented development of e-learning phenomenon at
European and international level , through the creation and use of virtual learning platforms in
many schools and universities.
The new methods of teaching and learning helps students develop skills necessary in the
society .
Though are not many studies that indicate the e -learning index in Romania , there are
numerous sources that are currently indicated e -learning (eg informatization level of a
country , the number of internet users per 100 inhabitants , ICT development index -ICT
Development Index ( IDI ) , the number of computers in schools /colleges / universities, the
number of educational institutions connected to the Internet , etc.).
Unfortunately if we compare Romania with other European Union countries , the situation is
quite different , Romania being in last place ( 27/27 ) , with a penetration rate of 44.1 % ,
compared to 73 % ( EU -27 ), according to Internet World Stats statistics .
For example in my university Academy of Economic Studies we have a digital library where
you can find all you want about economy, finance and stuffs. A good point is that everyone
can use it not only the university students. This thing is applied for every important university
in Romania like Medicine, Law, University of Computer Science and Math, Political Sciences
etc. But elders for example prefers to read books and use the traditional methods. E-learning
system is also used by the people who are studying at distance. That means when you are in
the same time at 2 universities you can do one frequent(go every day at university) and one at
distance. You wil have all the courses online and you should come only for exams. I think the
e-learning method is not so developed because many persons are afraid of new things. They
are too lazy to teach new things especially elders, but nowadays big companies force the
emoployees to learn online. All the materials that you need for work are online, so if you don
t want to loose your job you should learn to study on E-learning platforms.
The SIVECO Romania solution is based on latest ITC and psycho-pedagogic principles and
has been developed by SIVECO specialists in collaboration with the technical team,
experienced pedagogy experts, psychologists and Methodists in order to sustain the training
process, also contributing to a better approach of contents as well as at developing the key
competences of trainees. Multimedia AeL lessons were made to complete the traditional
teach-learn process, offering the trainer a way o transmit, motivate and receive fast feedback
from the trainee. The student is thought how to learn, adapting the suggested ways to his own

aptitudes and skills, he is rather used to search, look for, analyze and using certain algorithms,
than to unconsciously remember information.
In my opion should be a balance between old and new learning methods. For Romania to
develop and occupy an honorable place in the ranking of countries in the European Union
( 27/27 , Internet World Stats ) , I consider it is essential to develop new e-learning programs ,
materials and overcome barriers to access to meet the demands generated by the labor market.
Romania is only at the beggining of the E-learning era.
