3. Determine the ultimate moment capacity of the doubly reinforced beam of b = 350 mm,
d' = 60 mm, d = 600 mm, Ast = 2945 mm2 (6-25 dia), Asc = 1256 mm2 (4-20 dia), using
M20 and Fe 415.
4. Determine the moment of resistance of the doubly reinforced beam with b = 300 mm, d
= 600 mm, d' = 90 mm, f ck = 30 N/mm2, fy = 500 N/mm2, Asc = 2236 mm2 (2-32 dia+ 220dia), and Ast = 4021 mm2 (4- 32 dia + 4-16 dia).
Problems on T or L Beams (Flanged sections)
1. The following data is given for a T-beam: (isolated)
Width of flange = 900mm
Thickness of flange = 100mm
Width of rib = 250mm
Total depth of web = 700mm
Tension reinforcement = 6#25
Grade of concrete = M25
Grade of steel = Fe500
The beam is exposed to moderate condition. Compute the flexural strength.
2. Determine the MR of a L beam having following data.
a) Flange width = 1000mm = bf
b) Width of web = 300mm = bw
c) Effective depth = d= 450mm
d) Effective cover =50mm
e) Depth of Flange=120mm
e) Ast = 1963mm
Adopt M20 concrete & Fe 415 steel.
3. Determine area of steel required & moment of resistance corresponding to balanced
section of a T beam with the following data, b f = 1000, Df = 100mm, bw = 300mm,
effective cover = 50mm, d= 450mm, Adopt M20 concrete & Fe 415 steel. Use 1 st
principles.
4. Determine M R for the c/s of previous beam having area of steel as 2591mm
