You have acquired the hardware configuration of the faulty ZXSDR R8872A, and
prepared a new ZXSDR R8872A with the same specifications as the faulty one.
You have recorded the information of all cable connections to the faulty ZXSDR
R8872A, such as the interfaces to which the optical fibers and antenna feeder
jumpers are connected. This information is used for correctly reconnecting the cables
to the new ZXSDR R8872A after the replacement.
Steps
1. Stop operating the equipment.
a. Inform the OMC administrator that the ZXSDR R8872A will be replaced, and ask
the administrator to block the cells corresponding to this site.
b. Power off the faulty ZXSDR R8872A.
2. Remove the faulty equipment.
a. Wear an ESD wrist strap, and ensure that the ESD wrist strap is grounded securely.
If no ESD wrist strap is available or no appropriate earthing point is available for
grounding the ESD wrist strap, wear antistatic gloves instead.
b. Disconnect all related cables from the faulty equipment, and stick a label on
the disconnected end of each cable. For how to disconnect the cables, refer to
Chapter 2 Cable Replacement.

3. Install the equipment by referring to the ZXSDR R8872A Macro Remote Radio Unit
Hardware Installation.
a. Install the new chassis.
b. According to the information marked on cable labels, reinstall the removed cables.
4. Make power-on checks.
During equipment power-on, check whether the indicators are displayed in correct
statuses, and perform the corresponding operation according to different situations.
For the status description of each indicator on the ZXSDR R8872A, refer to the ZXSDR
R8872A Macro Remote Radio Unit Hardware Description.

5. Notify the OMC administrator to unblock the cells corresponding to this site.
6. Handle the faulty ZXSDR R8872A.
a. Put the faulty ZXSDR R8872A into a moisture-proof antistatic bag, mark the
equipment model, sector information, and fault information on a label, and stick
the label on the bag.
b. Put the bag containing the faulty device into a carton. Paste a label on the carton,
also describe the equipment model, sector information, and fault information.
c.
Contact the local office of ZTE for repairing the faulty equipment.

Prerequisite
A spare power cable with the same type and length as the DC input power cable to be
replaced is available.
Steps
1. Take a record of the output switch status of the external power supply cabinet. Turn
off the output switch corresponding to power cable to be replaced.
2. Record the connection information at both ends of the old power cable, and then
disconnect the power cable. The following describes how to disconnect the power
cable from the ZXSDR R8872A.
a. Open the maintenance cavity, and loosen the power cable crimping clip at the
entrance of the maintenance cavity.
b. Press the top pole with the screwdriver, until the pole cannot spring back. Pull out
the power cable with the tubular terminal from the terminal block, see Figure 2-2.
Figure 2-2 Removing the Tubular Terminals
Note:
To pull out the plug, pull the ring at the plug with fingers and pull out the plug
gradually.
a. Install the new DC input power cable in accordance with the previously recorded
connection relationship. For detailed operations, refer to the ZXSDR R8872A
Macro Remote Radio Unit Hardware Installation.
b. Stick a label on the power cable.
The label of the new cable must contain the same information as that on the label
of the old cable.
c.
Use the multimeter to verify that no short circuit exists on -48 V and GND power
cables.
l Yes The power cable is connected properly. Go to the next step.
l No Troubleshoot the fault and connect the power cable again, or contact
ZTE technical support.
4. Close the external power supply switch, and then observe whether power-related
