2. Significant Figure
a. Rules for significant figure
There are rules in determining the number of significant figure:
1. All of non-zero digits are significant figure.
2. All of zeros lie between no-zero figure is significant figures.
3. All of zeros on the righthand side of a non-zero figure are significant figures,
unless there is a special explanation. For example, the last digit which
considered to be significant is underlined.
4. All zeros used to determine the position of the decimal point are not significant
figures.

Activity

students.
Giving motivation to students and make
their focus to topics.
a. Observing:
1. Giving information about the material
being taught about Measuring.
2. Making a list (table) name scale,
measuring tools, how to measure, and
the units used individually, including
prevailing in the local area.
3. Observing some tools of measuring
and how to using it.
b. Questioning:
1. Teacher giving some question how to
use the measurement tools.
2. Students ask some questions about
the material, using the material, read
scale of it, and write result of
measure.
3. Exploring: exploring to understand ing
of students about measuring with an
experiment:
Measurement of the lenght, inner or outer
diameter of an object, and depth of an
object thing using a ruler, vernier calipers,
and micrometer screw.
4. Associating:
1. By discussion, students can be take a

that they doing with their grups.
2. Then, students can be concluded the
results of data.
5. Communicating:
1. One of groups giving result about
measuring that they do.
2. Tacher giving result and riview
about measuring that they do.
Teacher guide the students to conclude 10 minutes

C. Closing

the result of learning.

Giving individual assigment.
Telling about the next lesson on next
week.
Closing learning with pray together, then
greetings.

I. Tools and Source of Learning

1. Tools : Props of measuring:
a. Ruler
b. a vernier calipers,

The result must have three significant figures. So it is
3
written as 93,9 mm

Name the number of significant figure

a. 256,56 m : five significant figure
b. 3,99 g : three significant figure
c. 205 kg : three signivicant figure
d. 78,00087 kg : seven significant figure
e. 0,0000507 km : three significant figure
