Assignment 1
Construction and Operation of Analogue Circuits
NOTE ALL PASS CRITERIA MUST HAVE EVIDENCE PROVIDED TO PASS THE UNIT.
FAILURE TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE WILL LEAD TO THE COURSE DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE
BEING INVOKED.
Successfully completing this part of the assignment show that the student is able to:
Explain the purpose of two different types of diode, each in a different electronic circuit application
(P1)
Explain the operation of two different types of transistor, one in an analogue and one in a digital
circuit
(P2)
Build and test two different types of analogue circuit using operational amplifiers
(P4)
Modify an existing analogue circuit to achieve a given revised specification by selecting and
changing the value of one of the components
(M1)
Part B
d) Build the circuit shown opposite.
e) Switch on the power supply.
f) Connect a shorting link between 10.8
and 10.9
g) As the shorting link is connected the
Light Emitting Diode illuminates
indicating that current is driving the load.
h) Explain the purpose of the Light
Emitting Diode.
Task 2 (P2)
