Arteries always carry oxygen rich blood.

(FALSE)
Veins always carry blood toward the heart. (TRUE)
Which part of the blood is the most dense? (RED BLOOD CELLS)
You have a patient with type AB blood. What type(s) of blood could they be
given in an emergency situation? (ANY TYPE)
You have a patient with type B blood. What type(s) of blood could they be
given in an emergency situation? (B & O)
Patients of what blood type(s) can receive blood from a type O donor? (ANY
TYPE)
What equipment do you need in order to properly measure a patient's blood
pressure? (STETHOSCOPE & BLOOD PRESSURE CUFF)
What area of the brain controls breathing? (BRAIN STEM)
What structure inside the lungs allows for the exchange of O 2 and CO2 in the
blood? (ALVEOLI)
Which substance in blood makes up the majority of its total
volume? (PLASMA)

FREE RESPONSE:
Boyle's Law states that in a closed system, such as the lungs, the pressure
and volume of a gas are inversely proportional. This means that as the
volume of the system increases, the pressure decreases and vice versa.
Explain how muscluar contraction and chest expansion allow us to breath
using Boyle's Law as a guide.
Anemia is a condition where your body has a decrease proportion of red
blood cells to total blood volume. Why would this lead to symptoms like
headache, dizziness, and fatigue?
o The low amount of healthy red blood cells can mean your body isn't
receiving enough oxygen and can make you feel tired, dizzy, and
headaches.
What is the difference between cardiac arrest and a heart attack?
o heart attack: happens when an arterry that carries oxygenated blood
to the heart gets blocked making the heart die since it's not recieving
any more blood
o cardiac arrest: is sudden and mostly after a heart attack; it is triggered
by an electrical malfunction shpocks the heart causing it to have an
irregular heartbeat
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic disease that
develops over time as a result of chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or a
combination of both. Explain the differences between chronic bronchitis and
emphysema and how long term smoke exposure can lead to the development
of COPD.
o chronic bronchitis: inflamation or irratation in the bronchioles of the
lungs; irritation causes mucus later interfering with breathing opposite
of emphysema, result severe coughing

emphysema: causes permanent enlargement in the airways of lungs

making it diffulct to breathe result shortness and troubled breathing
o Long term smoke exposure can lead to the development of COPD since
the person migh have chronic bronchitis or emphysema making it
easier for them to get the disease since the lungs are damaged.
Explain how the cardiovascular and respiratory systems work together in
order to sustain life.
o The cardiovascular system's central organ is the heart, which pumps
blood to the different parts of your body. The blood travels from the
heart to the lungs, where the respiratory system supplies the blood
with oxygen. You inhale air through your nose or mouth; it passes
through your pharynx, larynx, trachea and finally to the lungs, where it
diffuses in the blood through the alveoli.
