Economy NMR Tubes

O.D: 5mm
ASTM Type 1 Class B Borosilicate Glass (N51)
Economy NMR tubes are recommended only for 1D NMR with small organic
molecules (mw<1500) at ambient temperature.
Class B (economy) tubes have less thermal shock resistance than Class A (precision)
tubes and may contain Fe2O3 which may have an impact on shimming quality.
For NMR experiments that involve cooling / heating, biological sample, multidimensional, multi-nuclei or DNP techniques, please use Precision tubes (Class A).

Tube Selection Guide - CFQ or Suprasil

Two types of quartz are used for EPR sample tubes:

Clear Fused Quartz (CFQ), a naturally occurring material

Suprasil, the trade name of Heraeus-Amersil synthetic quartz
Unique Properties of Quartz for EPR
Quartz is pure silicon dioxide
Quartz has a high dielectric constant
Quartz has a low level of paramagnetic impurities

Materials of high dielectric constant alter the microwave field and concentrate the field
on the sample. The low level of paramagnetic impurity in quartz prevents interferences
with the samples EPR lines.
Over long periods, CFQ irradiated with UV will discolour. Synthetic quartz transmits
electromagnetic radiation through the UV spectrum. Synthetic Quartz EPR tubes
(Suprasil) should be used when applying ionising radiation to generate radical species
and for a sample of very low signal. In most other cases, Clear Fused Quartz will provide
the same results as Suprasil.
Due to technological advancements the sensitivity of EPR has increased, the direct
result is that certain high Q cavities will pick up the signal from these impurities
especially in tubes over 4mm OD.
Clear Fused Quartz (CFQ) is purified from naturally occurring quartz so the existence of
certain material radicals from mining is inevitable.
In this instance we recommend switching to Suprasil EPR products which are made of
synthetic material and suppress major impurity contents by an average of 2 orders of
magnitude.

Order Process
Terms and Conditions of Sale
Orders may be placed by e mail, telephone, fax or

post.
1. Handling and Use

Any chemicals supplied should be handled only by qualified individuals
trained in laboratory procedures and familiar with their potential hazards.
Some of the chemicals supplied may be extremely toxic, hazardous or
flammable. Products are supplied on the condition that the customer
accepts responsibility for any accident arising from their handling or use. All
products are supplied for laboratory use only.
2. Disposal of Waste
The customer warrants that all chemicals will be disposed of in a safe and
environmentally friendly manner in line with current legislation.
3. COSHH
To comply with the customers own COSHH regulations, or similar such
regulations, MSDS sheets are available for all products supplied by Goss.
4. Title and Risk
Goods supplied by Goss shall remain the property of Goss until paid for in
full by the Customer. The customer will be liable for any loss, damage or
use of products between delivery and such a time as full payment is received.
5. Damaged Goods
In the event of goods being damaged during transit, Goss must be informed
within 7 days of receipt of the goods. When requested, damaged goods
must be returned to Goss for inspection before replacements are dispatched. Under no circumstances should a customer accept or sign for
goods from a courier that are clearly damaged or potentially damaged. The
customer must retain all packaging from damaged goods for inspection by
a Goss representative or a representative of the courier.
6. Delivery
Goss shall make every effort to meet any delivery date quoted but shall not
be liable for any loss or damage arising directly or indirectly from delay in
delivery.
7. Cancellations
Customer orders may only be cancelled in writing. Goss shall not accept
cancellation of orders once the goods have been dispatched from Goss. In
some circumstances Goss may agree to the return of the products but the
customer shall be liable for all packing and shipping charges incurred.
8. Insolvency
In the event that the customer shall suffer insolvency, bankruptcy or a
receiver be appointed, any goods that have not been paid for in full shall
remain the property of, and be recovered by Goss .
9. Public and Products Liability
Any claims against Goss in respect of damage to property or persons shall
be limited to the value of the contract.
10. Warranty
Goss warrants its products against defects in materials, workmanship and
design. No liability for loss or damage in excess of the purchase price of the
goods will be accepted.
11. Incorrectly ordered goods
By agreement only, Goss may choose to accept the return of incorrectly
ordered goods.
The customer may be liable for a re-stocking fee and all shipping and
packing charges.
No products may be returned if the seal has been broken.
12. Severability and Waiver
In the event that one of these Terms and Conditions shall be found to be
void, failure to enforce such condition shall not be regarded as a waiver of
the remaining Terms and Conditions.
13. Relevant Law
These Terms and Conditions and the contracts to which they relate shall in
all respects be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of
England and Wales.
14. Acceptance
The placing of an order with Goss implies acceptance of the above conditions.
15. Miscellaneous
The use of the term Goss in the above Terms and Conditions shall mean
Goss Scientific Instruments Ltd.
We will automatically set up account facilities for

bona fide companies, organisations and academic
institutions so we can accept your order
immediately.
