Spring Break Mass Times
Today, March 14, there will only be two Masses (10:30am and
8pm) due to Spring Break. During the week, the offices will be
closed, and there will be no Daily Mass. Four-Mass Sundays
and normal office hours will resume on Sunday, March 21.
2010 Bishop’s Gala
Tickets and sponsorships are on sale now for the 2010 Bishop’s
Gala, Fri. Apr. 16, at the AT&T Executive Education and
Conference Center at UT Austin. Individual tickets from $150
and group sponsorships from $1,000 are available. All
proceeds from the event fund tuition assistance for the students
of San Juan Diego Catholic High School. Please visit

Prayer Vigil for Life
The Diocese of Austin Prayer Vigil for Life will be hosted by
St. Helen Catholic Church at 2700 E. University Ave in
Georgetown on Sat., March 20. Mass will be at 7:00am,
followed by Adoration and pilgrimage to Whole Woman’s
Health of Austin to pray the Rosary. Benediction is at St.
Helen’s at 10:30am. Refreshments served afterwards. For

The 4th Sunday of Lent
Rules for Fasting and Abstinence During Lent
Generally, all Catholics 18—59 years of age are obliged to fast
on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. In addition, Catholics
aged 14 years and older must abstain from meat on Ash
Wednesday, Good Friday, and all Fridays during Lent.
Fasting, as explained by U.S. bishops, is only having one full
meal. Some food is permitted at the other usual meal times as
long as they do not equal another full meal. Abstinence forbids
the use of meat, but not eggs, milk products, seasonings and
condiments made from animal fat, or products made from meat
juices, such as gravies or broths.
Lenten Soup Suppers
Throughout the season of Lent, the UCC and St. Austin’s will
be hosting Friday night Soup Suppers at 5:30pm followed by
Stations of the Cross at 6:30pm each week. If you would like
to help here at the UCC on March 26, please contact Julie
Ulrich at utulrichs@yahoo.com. To help with St. Austin’s on
the other Fridays, please contact Linda Cartwright at
lcartwright@staustin.org.
Marriage Prep
The UCC will be hosting a marriage prep workshop on April
16-17. Twenty couples have already signed up! If you are
interested, please contact Deacon John De La Garza at
john@utcatholic.org.
Phonathon
The UCC’s annual Phonathon has officially begun! This year,
the Diocese will match all donations in order to help eliminate
the UCC’s debt, so please consider donating! If you are
interested in donating, but would not like to be called, please

to mark that it is for Phonathon. Students, we are still in need
of volunteers to help out! If you want to help, but are
uncomfortable with calling, there are still other ways you can
