ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad police are all set to launch its mobile app, for its
residents especially for net savvy citizens.
The free of cost app will be available for all Apple and android devices, grants easy
accessibility to the citizens by effectively providing an online alternative to that ageold three-digit control room SOS o 100.
The free of cost app, according to police officials, has been designed to offer
immediate assistance to elderly people and college going girls of the city.
Describing the app, SSP, Allahabad, KS Emmanuel said it will allow citizens to log
into the system and apprise the police of an offence by way of pictures, voice
recordings, or text messages.
The message will then pop up at the mordern police control room, from where it will
be forwarded to the police station\ mobile police vans concerned for necessary
action. The app is supposed to be active from Saturday.
"For everything, complainants generally dial 100 and we start coordinating from
that point onwards. But this app will give people contact details, phone numbers of
the police stations, and district level officers, ensuring that the complaint reaches
the right person in no time," informed the SSP.
The services provided through this app also include emergency police assistance,
direct helpline numbers for women, senior citizens and children, and easy
connectivity with the police control room.
More importantly, the app will feature various other functions, such as SOSowhere
one can send an emergency message to friends and relatives with just the push of a
button.
"The app would have an SOS emergency button which can be pressed in case of
emergency at home. The system will immediately generate a SMS that will reach
the contact person whose number has already been stored during the initial
downloading of the App. The person will get a SMS stating "I need help " with the
current GPS location of the person in distress. If that contact person feels he needs
to inform police he can immediately do so as we will also be alerted when the SMS
is generated. Senior citizens who reside alone need the help at odd hours.
The objective of this app is to bridge the communication gap between the residents

and the police , which is what results in effective policing," said the SSP. The
application can be downloaded from a Google Play Store shortly.

from private hotel industry in the state, the UP State Tourism Development
Corporation (UPSTDC) has decided to give a facelift to its tourist bungalows and
hotels in the state.
The state government has already cleared Rs 14 crore for upgradation of hotels and
tourist bungalows in Lucknow, Jhansi, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Rae Bareli and
Nawabganj. Rs 3 crore is to be spent for the upgradation of Hotel Gomti in Lucknow

"Authorities have taken up up-gradation of tourist bungalows and hotels across the
state and the project would be completed in phased manner. Six districts have been

Shravasti, Balrampur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Bithoor, Sarnath and Ayodhya, will be
taken up in the second phase."
Sen was in the city to review projects to be taken up in Allahabad in the next phase.
He had earlier visited Sarnath for the same purpose.
Corporation's manager (operations) Arun Nagar said, "The work in units that would
require an expenditure of more than Rs 1 crore has been allocated to state PWD

If comprehensive town planning norms are applied, it is possible to house all slumdwellers in ground-plus-seven to ten-storey buildings. "One of the most amazing
outcomes of such town planning will be the reduction in density," Das said, adding
that the density will be reduced to 650 tenements per hectare as against 1,200
tenements per hectare through today's slum rehabilitation scheme.
"Land that will be freed on account of such planned SRS will help create 25% of

open spaces and 10% land for social amenities, besides roads as required. This is a
huge gain for the city. All reservations that are currently encroached will be freed,"
he said.
Sitaram Shelar, member, Hamara Shahar Mumbai campaign, said the SRA must
publicize the maps and indicators used to demarcate slum clusters. "There must be
transparency and community participation. Often these schemes result in people
from different areas being brought together, resulting in tensions and conflicts," he
said.
Wards with the highest number of slum clusters
K- East (Andheri East) - 332
L - ward (Kurla) - 299
M-East (Deonar, Mankhurd, Trombay, Anik) 243
P-North (Malad/Dindoshi) - 224
