Writing task 1 (a letter)
The company you work for introduced a work-from-home scheme. Write a

(Academic Module)
Two IELTS test takers from Iran and Pakistan (thanks N and F!) remembered the following information
about a recent exam. It appears that these two countries had the same exam.
Listening test
Section 1. Information about a camping trip.
Section 2. Project discussion between two students.
Section 3. A student was getting some advice from a friend about a course in Arts.
Questions: multiple choice.
Section 4. About an air pollution problem.
Questions: filling in blanks, information matching.
Reading test
Passage 1. About waste recycling in different countries.
Passage 2. About the mobile phone technology and its use in real life.
Questions: multiple choice, True/False/Not Given, summary completion, match information to
paragraphs.
Passage 3. About a corporation and production of body spray.
Writing test
We were given a table that compared percentages of 7 different social groups in Australia that use
public transport.
Decreasing levels of fresh water sources are becoming a global issue. What are the reasons? What can
be done by governments to prevent it?

Reading test
Unfortunately, no one remembered the Reading topics.
Writing test
You have recently attended a conference and found it very informative. Write a letter to your manager
and ask their permission to give a presentation on the same topic to your colleagues. Include the
following details in your letter:
- What was the presentation about?
- Where was the conference held?
- How can it be useful to your colleagues and the company?
Some people think young people are more influenced by their friends than their parents or teachers.

IELTS test in India and Saudi Arabia September

Thanks to the collective effort of our IELTS-taking friends from India and Saudi Arabia (great job K, D,
V and A!), here are the topics and questions from a recent exam:
Listening test
Section 1. A conversation about different cars and their fuel efficiency.
Section 3. About the Salsa dance.
Section 4. About obesity in children, including a tutorial on how to avoid it.
Reading test
Passage 1. About food flavour.
Passage 2. About coastline nature sculptures.
Passage 3. About the global warming and its impact on New Zealand.
Writing test
We were given two maps of Sydney international airport. The first was from 1930 and the second was
a recent map of the airport. We had to identify and describe the changes.
The government should allocate more funds to public services instead of wasting money on arts such
as music, painting and so on. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give your own opinion.
