Modularity
The High Power UHF Transmitters
employ a modular system for the
main sub-assembling: this provides
the high standardisation of the spare
part, so that the same units can be
installed, as spare part, for several
transmitters throughout the High
power range from 5 kW to 60 kW.
High level of performance
The Vision and Sound signal
processing is provided for all TV
Standard and all types of Audio
applications (Mono & Dual sound BTSC - NICAM and IRT) together with
colour systems as PAL - NTSC SECAM.
The RF transposition in the driver, is
carried out by a synthesizers with
various possibilities of accuracy and
stability as well precision offset locked
by internal or external frequency
reference.

High Gain WideWide-Band Amplification

The RF amplifier is made up by five RF
modules (UA(UA-202L) installed in one
rack , these are dedicated for the
analogue Vision and Sound carriers
common amplification or digital OFDM
format.
The nominal output power for each
module is 2.2 kW (peak sync) with
associated 220 W (Sound), nominal
gain is 40 dB . The amplifiers employ
solid state LDMOS technology in order
to obtain wide band , reliability , and
high efficiency .
Any RF module is Hot Pluggable
using no spill liquid technology to
avoid coolant loss during the RF
module removing.

Combining System
The Combining System includes all
subunits of the transmitter fitted
for splitting and coupling process in
the parallel power amplification,
intended to operate in the UHF
band (470 to 860MHz), with RF
power rating up to 12kW CW.
Each 10kW Power Section is
equipped of five 2 kW RF module
amplifiers connected by means of
the high performances IN LINE
SPLITTER COMBINER system (see
fig. below).

CLEAN DESIGN

Each RF module has an own

redundant switch-mode power supply
unit self-protected against overcurrent and over-voltage , as well the
over-temperature.
The power supply units are installed
below the RF modules in the separate
hot pluggable draws. The redundant
system provides to feed 50% (worst
case) of the each RF module final
stage.

Flexible Cooling System

The cooling system comprises an external unit (outside the transmitter)
transmitter) for each Power Section ; the unit includes a
redundant pumping set , coolant tank , filters and control panel for liquid temperature and flow control.
An Heat Exchanger is installed outside of the transmitter room for each Cooling Unit, it is fitted with two fans in active
standby configuration for redundancy.
The cooling liquid is a mixture composed by dede-ionized water and antifreeze like glycol, the active pump conveys
conveys the
heat transferring fluid towards the external heat exchangers; here
here the fluid releases heat to the external environment,
so its temperature is regulated.

Mains Protection System

The Mains Distribution units are
installed in power racks , they
provide to feed the subunits with
unregulated redundant AC power
supply , the protection against
the accidental line sparks is
performed by means of surge
arrester system.
The high tolerance mains voltage
( 20 %) is accepted by the
transmitter , so that in the most
situations, the Automatic Voltage
Regulator is not necessary.

Easy Operation and Maintenance

The Control Unit provides the full management
of the transmitter without the operator
presence, the system involves a central
controller and several peripheral units installed
in each RF module and rack.
The control system includes a fault finding for
detecting equipment malfunctions and locating
the faulty subassembly which need to be
replaced; the basic controls as Start - Stop Standby - Reset and power readout are
permanently available.
The interlock circuit is independent of the
software and remains always operational during
the presence or not of the computer control.
The communication protocol is in RSRS-485
format supported with specific software, the
operator interface is represented by an high
resolution TFT graphic display and a simple
keyboard, the menu is very friendly and easy to
use .
The Control Unit can be fully controlled in
REMOTE mode via link or via modem in RSRS-232.
Other interfaces are supported as LAN and
TCP/IP
