In this assignment, youll get a chance to learn more about art on UNFs
campus while practicing your social media skills.
Audience: Ozzie, an Osprey who doesnt know art from an ant.
Ozzies profile: Shes a 19-year-old Jacksonville, Florida native who lives in
an environmentally protected area. She desires to develop her appreciation
of art in its many forms. She prefers wireless communication that doesnt
tether her to one device, and she turns to her social media outlets to tell a
seamless story.
Art Walk Jacksonvilles Goal: Develop Ozzies eagle-eye for works of art
Your Assignment: Write five (5) social media posts about the art Ozzie
finds around the UNF campus. Use the clues below to write three tweets and
one Thinglink entry. Each piece needs to include an original image and text
that explains the work and where you find it. Edit the Thinglink image to
incorporate two bits of information, which could be in the form of audio clips,
tweets or facts about the image. Post the fifth piece to the social
media outlet of your choice. For this item, you may use one of the
items described below or another on-campus piece not described
here. Please use #UNFArtfulWalk to organize and link your posts.
Cut/paste your answers to a document and upload it to Blackboard. I will
also check the social media sites to be sure your responses have been
uploaded.
Caveats: Use words that positively shape your followers impression of art
on campus. For the tweets, the messages should be brief, 140 characters or
less, including spaces and punctuation. The message should be your own. Do
not cut/paste of the information provided in the hint; that will be considered
plagiarism and will result in a 0 for the exercise.

This sign stands outside a repository of knowledge, pointing the
way to other great cities.
Tweet: Jacksonville, Florida is almost 7,500 miles from Beijing, China, as the
Osprey flies, according to this bronze post outside the UNF library

Clues (Choose at least four)

1. Ozzie didnt know that engineers understand art until she found this item
floating on one of the campus ponds. The blue vessel mixes the artistry of
math and science in a dinghy that would have made Vikings scoff.
2. Ozzie found this series of paneled glasswork in riotous reds, blues, greens
and golds in a place that values quiet. The artist designed the pieces to
make viewers think.
3. Ozzie ventured to this traditional training ground for teachers where she
found two illuminated panels that celebrate what weve learned about
Floridas wildlife.
4. Ozzie found this labyrinthine trio standing guard between the UNF
Department of Communication and the fine arts center. The natural materials
were salvaged, not harvested.
5. Extra, extra! Ozzie found the bronzed image of this young entrepreneur
in the college that knows how to do business.
6. Ozzie found this oversized, orange snack alone and afloat in one of the
campus ponds. Its smiling now, but who knows what will happen after a
late-night study session?
7. Ozzie found this pair in a stony embrace. The larger-than-life limestone
likeness overlooks a small body of calm, blue water in a place of healing.
8. Ozzie found respite in this cantilevered structure that stretches east and
west across the campus. Its design has won numerous architectural awards.
9. Ozzie was in search of recreation so she simply walked in the steps of
other Ospreys. Their colorful footprints marked an easy-to-follow path, but
most of the language was Greek to her.

10. Ozzie was looking for a place to rest, so she checked out a sculpture in
the greenery outside the engineers nest. The flat, cool surfaces were
calming, but the bolts were a prickly perch.
11. Ozzie took flight because she needed a view. She found a panoramic
perspective atop the structure standing guard over the engineers doorway.
Its steely curves contrasted the sculpture in item #10.
12. Ozzie knows kids leave handprints on the walls, but she didnt know they
could leave their mark on the ceiling, too. Inside the fine nest feathered for
artists, she found hundreds of tiny, plastered handprints suspended from the
acoustic tiles.
