Alcatel-Lucent 7342 ISAM FTTU

LOW PROFILE MULTI-D WELLING UNIT OPTICAL NETWORK TERMINAL (LP-MDU ONT) (ETSI)

The Alcatel-Lucent LP-MDU-ONT is part of the industry leading 7342 ISAM FTTU product family. It is designed
to deliver triple play services with high bandwidth capacity to homes and small businesses in MDU buildings
without the need to run fiber cables to each customer. It terminates a Full Service Access Network (FSAN)compliant GPON fiber interface and can connect up to 12 subscribers. Its low profile design is ideal for
installation in terminal rooms in a rack, closet, or outdoor cabinets.

Addresses customers in apartments

and multi-tenant buildings costeffectively reuses existing inbuilding copper and coax; requires
minimum space
Shortens time-to-market and quickens
growth in number of homes open for
sales by installing the Alcatel-Lucent
LP-MDU-ONT inside or outside
buildings
Uses the flexibility of RF video if
access to coax is available or uses
IPTV and benefits of a converged
network
Guarantees QoS for triple play services
for each subscriber, with the same
QoS and dynamic bandwidth management mechanisms for copper and
fiber customers

Alcatel-Lucent LP MDU
Applications
Two different versions of the AlcatelLucent LP-MDU-ONT can be used depending on the in-building cable interface
required. The LP-MDU-V ONT provides
VDSL2 interfaces over telephone wires
and the LP-MDU-G ONT provides Gigabit
Ethernet interfaces over Category 5/6
wires. Either version includes 24 POTS
interfaces along with an optional coax
interface with high launch power that
can be used to distribute RF video.
The LP-MDU ONT is ideal for delivering
ultra-high bandwidth up to 100 Mb/s
symmetric per subscriber over copper

loops, using VDSL2 30Mhz band plan.

The Gigabit Ethernet version can deliver
up to 100 Mb/s sustained and GE burst
throughput to any subscriber. Along with
data, the Alcatel-Lucent LP-MDU ONT
provides 24 legacy voice interfaces. The
voice service is emulated over the GPON
network and can be terminated in a
Class 5 switch via the PSTN gateway. In
addition, the Alcatel-Lucent LP-MDU-ONT
supports SIP-based VoIP clients, and
voice services can be terminated by an
NGN switch. Both RF video overlay using
a coax interface as well as IPTV service
architectures are supported. The coax
interface for video is suitable for RF video
delivery to multiple units and there is

sufficient bandwidth and multicast

capability for IPTV. IP multicast is done
with IGMP snooping functions for IPTV
service. In addition to MDUs, AlcatelLucent has the largest and most comprehensive GPON ONT portfolio for a range
of applications, including single family
homes and businesses. The Alcatel-Lucent
LP-MDU ONT can be deployed on a GPON
network with other ONT models to provide coverage for all types of subscribers,
such as residential and business.
